I have lost all respect for the rhcp

i havnt lost all respect they are still great musicians but thats horrible we get F's in school for doing shit like that
 
boo fucking hoo, its about 20 seconds of 1 song that the red hot chili peppers made, and it sounds similar to a song by tom petty. there are millions of songs out there, im sure this isnt the first time it has happened. it is really stupid that you lost all respect for them, especially since the rest of the songs sound nothing alike
 
give a million monkeys a million years and they will write the same shit. instead of being liek OMG ITS THE SAME just say wow tom petty is talented lets listen to him too. or wow RHCP is comparable to an amazing band.

who cares.
 
I lost more respect for them when Flea was whining about people downloading stadium arcadium.

He said it was about music quality but blatently he's pissed he's losing out on cash, which he shouldn't be because he's got enough.
 
I don't really enjoy rhcp or petty, and I can still listen to it and see that they're similar, but that's it It's not like the drum beat is even remotely difficult or they are hard chords to play. For example listen to any powerchord rock song, it's gona be the exact same rhythm, beat, and it's going to be the same as hundreds of other powerchord rock songs.
 
alot of music sounds the same, i'm sure parts like the chorus and the bridge are different, and obviously the words are different as well. both also have different feels to it. enough bitching.

Please for the love of god people don't fall for this bullshit. The chords are not the same (I play guitar and I have checked) and they are not even in the same strum pattern. The only reason that the drum beat sounds simmilar is because they sped up that petty song like crazy. If you dont believe me then go back and actually listen the the real song. So basically, they used the same time of swing beat (I forgot what its called, can't remember my music theroy right now) with different tempos, different chords, and different lyrics, which really proves to me nothing.
 
i also checked the tab, its off. but whatever, frusciantes an amazing guitarist. he doesnt need to steal other people's shit and obviously he hasnt. btw, everyone should listen to slood sugar sex magik. its very different from stadium arcadium
 
theres so many bands like that, theres so many bands that copy random classical music tunes and just change it toi guitar or piano or techno. Like Coldplay copied some random person in speed of sound. So many bands do it. RHCP also could have done it by accident. He may have had the song stuck in his head when he wrote Dani California, at least thats what happens to me sometimes.
 
Yeah... Petty's was sooooo much slower and it didn't really sound like that to me...someone just doesn't like the RHCP
 
my sis listens to james blunt and the volume was low, i heard only the guitar and I was SURE it was the radio playing radiohead or something like the track #3 or 4 I think of james blunt cd, but not sure its radiohead thoiugh, but some band like this.
 
nooo you can't lose respect for them just for that. the first thing i learned when i started playing music was borrowing, and even in some casing just plaing copying, keeps music evolving.

when musicians write songs, they can't always just create something completely original. often, the easiest way to write a song is to listen to someone else's work and borrow a harmony and build off it.

basically, they both made really good songs, respect that the rhcp could take a previous hit and make it into another hit.
 
not saying that that is true, but i would lose respect for someone that does that, with out recognizing the influence. thats liek having someone murder some one else and saying they only did it once so they shouldnt b jailed. then and agian i guess i just love tom petty that much. i also was bummed when i found out dylan copied that japenese poem book
 
alot I mean there different songs

besides the choruses are different

its kind like when a rapper rips the line from tainted love

beside how many unique melodys can u make up that you have never heard before ever

i listen to both those songs a ton and i never noticed it until now

so i dont even care
 
haha, weird. i noticed that it sounded like a tom petty song when i first heard it. its not identical even though both songs kick much ass.
 
i can't believe some of the thoughts that come out of peoples heads after hearing that, first of all i couldn't tell you how many times i've listened to a song, learned how to play it on guitar, and then made it into something different, but similar to that of what i had just learned

and i can almost guarentee you that the red hot chili peppers meant nothing by this, they probably had no idea what they were doing, theres only so many different notes that one can play, and since the chord formation is similar, the voice melody is going to be similar because it fits, does that not make sense to anyone

and also do people honestly think that the chili peppers aren't creative enough to write their own music, they've had tons of madd good songs that are totally different than anything else you will ever hear
