a single = i'm at the plate, i hit the ball and i only reach first base before the play is dead

double = i'm at the plate, i hit the ball and i reach second base before the play is dead

triple = i'm at the plate, i hit the ball and i reach third base before the play is dead

home run = smack dat shit out of here

do all of this in a single game and you've hit for the cycle
