I have a question about team europe's JOSS video...

I'm going to guess that after they took that footage on a tripod, they took certain frames from the video that they planned on using into photoshop. cut out just henriks body in each frame they were using(just like a sequence) than pasted the pictures overlaying the video track. Than just set keyframes for when the pictures should show up as he passes over them and voila. thats just my guess though

that seems correct ya. Unless the photographer was taking a burst from right beside the video guy. but regardless of how it was done you could do it using screenshots.

its actually a really easy effect.

you can even do it if you have camera movement. just on a tripod or something smooth would make it a lot easier.

in after effects this is how i do it. first make a null with the camera tracking data of your clip on it.

then just make a duplicate of the video and lay it on top. go to where you want to freeze it and right click go to time and go freeze frame. then take the pen tool and mask it out. then just parent it to your null object.

then repeat for how ever many copies you want.

ah shit thats sick hows that one done?

and to the thread creator definately post up your attempt if you get anything done.

this is sweet. i remember seeing that like a year ago and could not even comprehend how to do it haha.

im pretty sure there just all still shots though and then you just mask the "copies" in like just make the line right behind the first and follow it. and then there was some digital dragging or whatever youd want to call it i dont know what its called.

also to the thread creator you can see how the technique i described before looks, if you watch our teaser. (its a really quick shot but thought id still put it here)its at 1:09
