I have been doing the Susan G. Komen 3 day walk for the cure for the last 2 years, where we walk 60 miles over 3 days and raise funds (minimum of 2300 dollars a person). My team has raised tens of thousands of dollars and has been at it for years before I joined. We love the foundation. With all of that said, here is the bad news. Under right-wing political pressure, they recently cut funding towards planned parenthood; funding that did not give a penny towards any abortion services whatsoever, but instead provided 172,000 underprivileged women with free cancer screenings. If you love boobs as much as I do, especially the cancer free kind, please sign this petition.

The reason I am not letting this die, as obnoxious as that may be, is because my mom started a team 6 years ago that I joined 2 years ago that has raised close to 100,000 dollars. My mom has done 8 walks (480 miles) and I have done 120 over 2 walks since my grandma died of breast cancer. It is an issue that I care about alot, and over the last 5 years funding from susan g komen has given to Planned parenthood has given172,000 underprivileged women (2 or 3 football stadiums) free breast screenings

If sentimentality and astounding numbers, we can always go the shitstorm route, because of this bitch named Karen Handle (ran for governor of georgia, staunchly pro-life with a public vendetta against planned parenthood, got Sarah Palin's endorsement), became the senior vice president of the foundation and is responsible for all of this. Susan G. Komen for the Cure is trying its very hardest to prove to its supporters that it didn't decide to stop giving grants to Planned Parenthood because of an internal or external right wing political agenda, which is steaming, obvious bullshit. Now, it turns out that people from inside Komen confirm that the decision was a political one, and the politics of Komen are swinging wildly to the right thanks to the metastasized ideology of Karen Handel, former Mama Grizzly, failed Georgia gubernatorial candidate, and longtime anti-Planned Parenthood crusader.

Goldberg further reports that his sources indicated "The decision to create a rule that would cut funding to Planned Parenthood, according to these sources, was driven by the organization's new senior vice-president for public policy, Karen Handel, a former gubernatorial candidate from Georgia who is staunchly anti-abortion and who has said that since she is "pro-life, I do not support the mission of Planned Parenthood."" Saw this on the news last night, what a load of bullshit. Planned parenthood does so much more than provide abortions. It is appalling that people go out of their way to negatively impact PP just because they provide abortions.
