I guess I fucked up, Copywrite violation

So for the last few hours the internet in my dorm room wasnt working, tried to fix it in a ton of ways but nothing worked. Decided to call the tech help desk, their not open till 7pm tho. So i call them at 7 and the dude runs our room # and says our internet has been blocked for copywrite violations. He said that for more info ill be getting and email soon from the housing adviser or w.e. and he thinks we havta meet with them about it. Im in the commons now where we can connect to the internet and still waiting on the email. Anything like this happen to anyone else while at uni? Should i be worried bout this?

I would but the problem is we dont, only Ethernet available, and in order to get on the wifi where we do have it you need to log in
 
haha true that, ive been thinking about doing that for a while now.

Hopefully this ends up not being a big deal. itd be really shitty if i got fined
 
dont worry about it. what the fuck would they care about a little college student downloading some movies. its not like you have to money to buy it anyway.

what have you downloaded. the problem could be you seeding torrents. if thats what youre doing.
 
Yea it could be seeding, I left utorrent open on accident the other day so I think that may have been what happened. Or it could be from day 1. I have no idea what its from
 
Unfortunately you probably signed an Internet contract or something similar when you enrolled promising you wouldnt do exactly this. Doubt you'll get in much trouble but keep in mind they will have that on you. Deffinatly use homework, research, job hunting, communicating with family as reasons you need your access restored Find a way not to get caught again because my buddy got kicked out of the dorms for this after 3 violations
 
Ah the email was in my spam folder that i didnt even know existed, good thing i checked.

Its a violation for torrenting the rum diaries. Which is annoying as fuck cause it was a shitty ass camera rip that i never even watched

just write an apology or tell em in person.. suck up to em. make it look like you feel bad about it. and like stated above, tell you need the internet for class, homework, up coming papers, etc...
 
just straight up tell em that if you don't get internets for porn then the school rape rate is about to drastically increase
 
Yea I have to meet with the resident director i guess and after that my internet comes back on.

I need to think of a good excuse to why i downloaded the movie, any ideas?

I might say i was trying to download the trailer for a rum diaries/fear and loathing compilation trailer because both have johny depp in them / written by Hunter S Thompson. But once i saw the quality and how unusable it was i didnt bother using it. thoughts?
