so me and a couple friends went to a landing near our house. Its like where a river meets the ocean. so we were at this boathouse just sitting and enjoying the outdoors (its like 1130 PM). We then see this rowboat. We put it in the water to make sure it doesnt spring leaks. We get in and start paddling down the river. We went about a mile down stream, brought a fishing rod but diddnt catch any fish. So after about a half hour we decided to head back. On our way back, Low tide had come in. after about 300 yards of oar pushing through shallow water, we were unable to move.

I was pwnd by the moon

at least you werent pwnd by a shark.

if you watched shark week you would know that sometimes they swim up those rivers.

be happy you stranded, i once got dragged about a mile in the ocean with a tidal current :( thats really pwnd ...

i used to surf in the cloudiest, most bull-shark-infested waters in north america...until i learned more about bull sharks...then i pretty much stopped, cause a couple have brushed my leg before

Wait, when you say paddled downstream did you mean out to sea or up the river? Because going up the river would make more sense for you guys to row a rowboat into vs. taking it out to the ocean, unless the shack was still pretty far from it. So if you did paddle upstream, where it typically gets shallower as you go, how were you able to go so far back and THEN hit bottom?
Ah, nevermind, not all rivers are the same way. Mine isn't either so you probably just missed the channel. That stinks man, I feel for ya

for the people who dont understand this. the moon deals with tides cuz of the gravitational pull.

jk. u're right.

The opposite happend to me. Me and my friends crossed over this little brook to go fishing in the bay. when we got back it was like the delaware river.

haha you would be the one to try and explain it and sound smart, when in fact most people with a brain already knew it..

same thing happened to my friend. he has a mooring in the marsh for his sailboat, so he can only leave and enter during mid to high tide. but one night he sailed for too long and couldn't go back in, so he had to dock it at a public launch. needless to say, the fisherman who use it were not very happy. so the next day we went to sail it back to his mooring and we found half a fish in his sailboat.

you really think these kids know that the tides are controlled by the moon? C'mon man people arent THAT stupid around here.

no, asshole, we have NO WAVES on my section of the gulf coast for the most part, the only time it's surfable is if there's a major storm front like a hurricane or tropical storm moving into the gulf and pushing swells toward us...and even then it's just big beach break
trust me, it's not fun having to decide when the lightning is getting too close to be safe and then trying to beat the leading edge of a tropical storm back into town before we get stuck on the highway in flood waters, but if you want to surf that's what it takes around here sometimes
