so wednesday night i was heading over to my friends to have a good time and consume copious amounts of alcohol. once drinking begins things get a bit competitive and i have the great idea to chug a fourth a handle of whiskey to the face. this is the last thing i remember. i woke up to my friends bailing me out of the hospital by telling the nurse the doctor said i could go when we hadnt seen the doctor at all. now i have a $1900 hospital bill and i dont want my parents to find out. if i go through insurance ill have to tell them but i want to try and pay it on my own without them finding out.. the only problem is i need 2 grand. and if my parents find out i went to the hospital for drinking i have to come home from college.. wtf do i do
 
just kidding, if your parents make you come home from college then they are the retards...

have insurance cover it and it will be a good lesson
 
Tell your parents what happened and pay will the help of insurance and then explain to them how horrible of an experience it was and that you have learned your lesson and will not be drinking anytime soon? it would take some smooth wording but honestly i think that would be easier to make work than coming up with 2 grand
 
Call the hospital and tell them you are broke, ask to be put on a payment plan, they will ask you how much you can afford to pay each month. Tell them how much you can afford to pay each month. It might take you a while to pay off but your parents won't find out. Or you could go through insurance but that way your parents will find out for sure. Or just lie to your parents and tell them you had to go to hospital for an unrelated incident (skateboarding accident etc.)
 
...you know for a fact that unless you pick a winning lottery ticket you are fucked...they arent going to pull you out of college unless they are swimming in lumpsums of money..they arent going to pay 2 grand and then waste a ton of money on your college education..everyone drinks at college, just learn your lesson and do the right thing

You can talk to the hospital about working out a payment plan. If you have no insurance you could try for charity care but probably won't get it since you are still under your parents. I would recommend telling your parents and going through the insurance company if you have one. Yeah they'll be pissed probably, glad you're alright though. It seems like the end of the world right now, but really this is the best route to take. Probably should have stayed in the hospital.
 
go through their insurance!! they can't find out anything unless you signed some concent form before. the hospital has to follow a strict doctor patient confidentiality law.

My brother went to the doctors out in Utah for mono. my parents called the doctor and asked what was wrong. all the doctor could say was it wasn't life threating.
 
what are they charging you 1900 dollars for if you never even saw a doctor? babysitting fee basically?
 
Your bill seems high as fuck. How can they charge that much for giving you a bed and maybe a stomach pump? Socialized health care would have been good in this case.

If you have to come home from collage for $2000 then thats stupid right.
But you can work 200 hours + to make that money.

So im seeing

College + parents happy = $2000
or
Parents mad + no college = $0

Your choice.

Id drop the 2k if it were up to me.
 
Its not i seriously wanna know. I mean what happens if your about to have baby or your having a heart attack..? Do they just ignore you and kick you out to the street. Jesus christ what kind of country are you living in.
 
Actually. How old are you? You never no on ns. Hopefully if you're getting black out drunk and ending up in the hospital you are at least 18. You can sign medical release papers that allow nothing or only certain things to be told to your parents. you can have them listed as contacts and go through the insurance without anyone calling your house and saying, "Bobby drank way to much and came to the hospital unconscious, you should ground him for life".

But seriously you need to go through the insurance or tell your parents. At least somebody got you to a hospital. Way too many times people have been afraid to call for help. I wish they would make it so that people that bring you in aren't in trouble, or at least a severely less punishment depending on the situation. At least you're alive man. Worst case, your parents aren't going to kill you
 
if you go to college you have health insurance. (if you are full time). so dont worry about it. Go talk to someone at your school.

Yah dude. Free heath care is the greatest! You should never be forced to consider whether or not you can afford help when you seriously need it.
 
There really is no question of what should be done in this situation. whenever I need 2 grand fast here are the steps I follow.1. go down to my homeboy2. me :" yo im in deep shit right bout now i need ounce of Cocaine"3. Homeboy: " aight i got yo back sling this blow like the cowboy you are"4. Proceed to go down to your local highschool and tell all the kiddies how bomb your blow is5. 2 grand acquired

 
Just tell your parents what happened but tone it down a bit. Say you were partying and some crackhead bricked you.
 
While I think telling your parents is by far the best option, I will tell you that a hospital can't refuse any payment plan you make with them. If you tell them you can only play 20 bucks a month then that's what they'll do. And, I think that if the price you say is too low, say you tell them you can only pay 5 bucks a month, then they just throw the bill out because it would cost more to do the paperwork every month then they would be getting out of you. But, don't do that. You dun goofed, time to pay the piper.
 
just tell your parents. they aren't going to actually fucking take you out of college because you drank at college dude. i will guarantee you that was a little scare tactic to try and stop you from drinking. they will be pissed, but there is pretty much a 0% chance they're gonna pull you out of college. that would be retarded as fuck on their part.
 
Not exactly free... We each pay thousands a year in tax for it, it just gets spread out a lot better. American health care does have benefits.
 
problem solved somewhat.. i have two older sisters and an older brother who are just gonna help me pay it without taking it through insurance which will cost more but avoid the parentals. and sidenote yes my parents would most likely stop helping me pay my college tuition if they found out because ive already fucked up while being here.
