I don't like skiing with other people.

Don't get me wrong. When you stomp something big, you need your friends there to hype you up(and film). But when it comes to the rest of the day, i'm tired of trying to match other people's paces or constantly being worried if others can match mine. I dont give a shit how cliche I sound. Skiing is about freedom and flow. Friends just get in the way.

Honestly, skiing alone and exploring the mountain is underrated. Find some new places and no need to stop and wait. Just flow all the way.

But a good day with the homies beats this. The feeling of getting hyped sending something with the homies is unmatched

Why are you forcing yourself to make this decision man? Relax and just do you, whether you’re with the homies or not. If you love skiing you will have many many days ahead of rolling solo or with your friends and it prob won’t even be in your control a lot of the time because people have lives outside of skiing. So my advice would be to just focus on your own personal enjoyment that you know you get out of this sport, enjoy your friends when they’re around and enjoy the solitude of being alone

I don't feel that way as much skiing but i do for a lot of things. I like to travel solo, hike, etc. Just nice to go at your pace and not worry about another person. I def enjoy some solo laps though. But squad laps are pretty tight.

I've done both, choice B

maybe when just cruising, but definitely want friends around when exploring serious terrain or pushing things at all. feel you though, it's all good...

Skiing with friends is one of the main reasons I ski, so to me it's worth skiing slower/less/whatever compromise it is to ski with my friends.

I ski alone a lot and it can be fun but it gets old. I always value a day lapping with the homies I used to shred with every weekend. I also love skiing with my dad cause he has superhuman genes and can ski like he's in his early 30's at age 58

I didn't mean it like that. I just see a lot of different styles where some point it down groomers all day and some zig zag across the hill trying to get evey possible side hit.

tuff to flex being the best skier on the mountain with your 'friends' always slowing you down

Same. My dad does the boomer tuck with his poles in his armpits but I'm nor gonna pretend I can keep up with him when he does.

Hot lapping with the boys and taking necessary stops in the park to call out tricks for eachother and you’re all on the same wavelength and train features > ?????

Kind of the same thing... My gf is really new so she'll ski with friends who aren't as good

Most of my friends who used to charge hard are all soft now and flake when I want to go up. They might hit one jump or go to Lake Chutes freaking once. They love to ski slow with their gfs though so IDK. I just cant go all the way up to Breck or Keystone and ski slow and lame. I really want to learn some new tricks or ski new terrain. I might have to go by myself more

Interesting take. Even if you're skiing fast, all those side hits and scoping slows things down no matter what.

Mixed ability group of ~8 with walkies is 10000 % the answer. Peel off, catch back up, etc.

Walkies are a pain to set up comfortably though.

Finding the right crew is the most important part. So skiing with your girlfriend, your boyfriend, your mom whatever. Just ski with those people who match how you see the mountain. Your life will be better. Even down to when it's time to stop and have a beer.

My college crew was unmatched. Best energy best vibe, ahh I miss those days. There have been substitutes since but never replacements

The major key is to hot lap and not stop between every feature. Me and my friends used to do this until we finally realized for every 1 min lap, we have a 7 min chair ride where we can talk about what tricks we did/want to do, how features are riding, etc.

Also when we were young we would film every attempt at a new trick. We slowly transitioned into trying some mellow new stuff (like a new grab, adding a 180, an extra swap, etc.) without the camera and got more laps in.

This also helped with getting shots quicker when we decided to film

For me skiing with friends is only good when skiing park. They give you the stoke and motivation to progress but in the other aspects of skiing I enjoy skiing alone more and not having to wait for people.

Had this 1 friend. Ronnie. Literal shitter, couldn't do anything all that Jerry was good for was filming. We used to get him to lay down in gaps and stand on the knuckle and film. This 1 time he started getting really annoying saying "oh film me I want some clips" like tf u gonna do a 180?? I don't want you in our edit I said to him and he got all fussy and started throwing his skis. We pretty much put him in a headlock and he went home to mommy. Never saw him in the park again, which is good some people just can't ski and we tried to be nice and let him film us but he had to get all cocky. Never getting slowed down by gapers again.

I think he rides Gilsons now and skis groomers. What a loser.

In all seriousness if someone takes the time to film you a bunch and then they politely ask for some clips in return, then it would be a dick move to flat out refuse, regardless of how good they might be. Not saying u gotta put their clips in your edit though.

You must be some kind of interpersonal genius or something.

Yeah that’s lowkey fucked up. I’d never do that to my homies even if they were bad riders.

Usually im a pretty patient person but as soon as I have ski boots on it is so hard for me to wait. kills my flow i just want to goof off and ski fast. skiing with snowboarders is especially bad.

so you're that friend

I definitley feel like skiing with a snowboarder friend is slow, and isn't as fun. And skiing with a skier with a different style of skiing, (slower or not as sendy.) Skiing with someone who has similar actions to how I ski is much better, which in that case I will ski with friends. But it's very true that skiing yourself is more relaxing and if anything, more fun because like you said you can go at your flow, not wait down at the bottom waiting for someone, and you could switch your run how many times you want because its you and your brain and your twigs only.

Idk..... entire season (35 days) solo, including riding chairs ( mebbe 3 rando partners) and I would love to have someone hoot, ski ahead, or make me wait for them.... once...

Family trips out west are made for solo skiing. Find the most exposed icy run from the top of the ridge with no one in earshot and send it. Really gets the blood flowin
