I Don't Jib Your Racecourse; Please Don't Race Our Park.

so we have a problem with that at my hill and it really bugs me. we have a lot of high school race teams come out and practice and some of the racers (in spandex...ugh) will come over and "race" through the park. so we've decided that a t-shirt with the above saying would be appropriate. are there shirts out there like that yet?
 
Are they actually racing or are they coming in the park and actually hitting stuff and doing shit? I would just let them do it if they don't get in the way, cut you off etc. No reason not to. If they're doing their racing stuff and getting in the way though go for it, although I doubt most racers know the meaning of the word jib lol.
 
you dont really have the right to tell them where to ski. Best thing to do is talk to the resort.
 
I HATE IT when they race and carve through the park. It's sooooo gay. Happened to me on Saturday. And then they think it's "fun" to fuck with the park skiers and jump off the sides of the lips up to rails. Gay.
 
they are kind of like a lot of snowboarders: they stay at the top of the run for a few minutes while one or two dead sailor a jump, case and take the rope back up, and then make their big carving s-turns through the park and leave. then they show up again 20 minutes later and do the same thing.
 
I dont mean to hate, but what the fuck do you think a T-shirt is going to accomplish?

You might feel all defiant and cool when you wear it, but no ones even going to see it under your ski jacket.

If you see kids in spandex carving around all the features in the park tell them in the lift line that theyre more than welcome to session the park, but treating it like a race course is dangerous for other skiers and can get annoying.
 
racer steeze is so cool. its when you go super fast straight onto ride-on boxes. And if your super racer steezy, you lift up on leg.

But on my mountain racecourse is on the other side of the mountain so I guess thats good, but I have a feeling they might move it back.
 
yea thats a big problem at my mountain, the race area is designated so we cant go in, yet the park is for FREESTYLE terrain, but they come through. the teachers also take lessons through there. its redic.
 
i sure as hell wont wear spandex. ^^^

I do jib their racecourses though. ha that sounds bad.... ill jib your racecourse
 
hahaha thats a good idea, but how do they race through jumps?

if they go around thats gay, and if they go over the jumps are too small
 
they do that at my hill too, and being an ex-racer i know why they do it, they're fascinated with the shit. it's a different aspect of the sport that almost none of them have any experience with and its really interesting to them. as long as they arent being douchebags and seriously getting in the way or messing up features, then let them be and just do your own thing. the only time i've had a problem with them personally was when a local college team decided to actually set up a course starting on the bottom half of the park. since this was the park that i designed, setup, and maintained i was pretty pissed off about that and ended up kicking them out. but besides that they're just curious and think freestyle is cool, so just let it go.
 
Speak for yourselfs, I always go outta my way to do some nice slash turns and butters on the racecourses....
 
remember the one day i got so pissed? haha

they cut me off on the first hit so i tryin to tail tap the one kid. then preceeded to go "calmly" talk to the instructer that took the 8 year old fuckers in the park.

then they were all standing in the landing of the battleship so i came off switch with a ton of speed, goin straight at them and did a skate stop.

haha that was epic

yeah good idea with the tees, but the racers probably dont know what jibbing is so u should change it to: "DONT COME IN OUR GRIND BAR AREA AND WE WONT GO IN YOUR RACING AREA"
 
That lady is a straight up bitch. Its so funny to listen to here tell them how to hit the jump too. Shes like "Lean as far forward as you can untill your in the air" and they do it in a train and fall on thier faces.
 
yea she is, she realy thinks shes the shit too.

when in reality shes not even high up in the program, and she realy sucks balls at life.
 
You know what this reminds me of? Johnny Tsunami. like where they had the mountain all divided up for the skiers and the boarders. so in the spirit of that, id say have a huge jib contest, winner take all
 
Just chill out and let people ski, it only takes a couple minutes out of your day. It's not the end of the world.

Going on the same token as the OP, I could tell you all to quit building jumps in my backcountry. But I have the foresight to realize that this would be ridiculous, and am more than willing to share "my" area with other people who utilize it differently and are just trying to have fun with something new.
 
i use to get annoyed when little kids would go through the park going off the sides of rail lips until i saw some racer kid going over them and absorbing the bump, ruining the lips that the park crew worked hard to fix. make the shirt.
 
AHHHH. You knwo today, I had a similar thought in my head. Ski instructors took like groups of 8 year olds (who were still pizzaing) through out highest level park... whats up with that?
 
I went off a jump once and I looked down and their was a racer under me just riding over the landing. His coach chased me down and yelled at me for almost killing the kid. But yeah I do jib the race course sometimes.
 
yo if you ever see any kids in spandex come through the park, find the nearest course thats set up and ski it, and when you get to the bottom tell the coach that you got kicked out of the park by his racers.

Live and let live. If they are being unsafe, then talk to them politely. But otherwise, just leave it alone.
 
just cut them off then when they try fight say engard with your ski pole... and have a ski pole sword fight... make sure you win
 
I agree, and How did we all get into freestyle? maybe not by being racers but doing the exact same shit that they piss us off with.
 
same damn thing at my mountain. i ski at burke and they have burke mtn academy which is some fancy race skool and all the fucking kids get free cloudveil shit and they all buy 1080 thrusters and go down trails switch and make fun of everyone. one time i was in the park and i threw a smooth cork 3 but didnt get the landing and a racer laughed at me and then proceeded to ride straigth onto a box and do a spread eagle off. fuckin homos.
 
dude seriusly the one thing that bugs me the most is hate. i dont care who it is, dont be a dick to them. as long as there skiing. their just having fun skiing, just like you. how do you thing most of the pros started. they saw snowboarders or other people in the park doing sweet stuff, and would come in, as racers, and just play around, explore a new enviroment. why are you hating. im pretty sure jon ollson was just like this, now look were he is. absolutely killing it. even today, some yeti was skiing, fell and didnt have his boots done up. he came right out and was just chilling in his liners. his skiis had no brakes just straps, so they went into the trees. i laaughed, but then felt bad and figured this kid was going to be scarred for life, and become a snowboarder, so i helped him. if u see a racer in the park cutting people off, just nicely go up and talk to them about it and say your endangering others, try to teach them so other tricks while your at it. just SKI AND HAVE FUN, and share it with others
