I don’t find skiing that fun anymore mid day

Every time I ski mid day I wanna go home and I am just not feeling it.

i have no idea but I haven’t had a good day skiing in such a long time. But I still go cause I get super excited. Maybe it’s cause I think I can land way more many tricks than I can idk

Wish I could help when I see these threads about ppl not having fun anymore but I can’t relate at all. Sometimes I get a day off and drive out to the hill by myself with shitty snow conditions, take like 5 laps by myself and mess around doing goofy shit and then go home feeling so accomplished like it was actually an awesome day.

Idk how ppl lose their stoke, its an epidemic that must be stopped. I do agree that diversifying your skiing will probs help tho

The only time I get tired of skiing is when I do it too much and get ungrateful. Maybe take a break or something

Oh boy another cry baby thread. Then don’t go skiing anymore?? Take up knitting?? How spoiled are you??

Fr fr I’d ski everyday if money and a job wasn’t an issue

I pay for all of my skiing as I am a full grown ass adult, skiing is my favorite thing to do but this last season was very disappointing to me. I go hoping for the satisfaction I used to get, I don’t get it much anymore sadly

You need to diversify your skiing

make some turns, get into touring, etc

I bought some Jeff 108s and hope to get more into cliffs and side country type shit

If ur an adult then figure it out, stop killin the vibe around with your bitchinnnn

u ski with a good crew? find some more homies, don't worry about landing tricks just be style and don't worry about what others people think, listen to music that makes you happy, taking drugs while skiing can be interesting apparently especially molly and acid. give me more context.

I’m like the brokest ski addict there ever was

Three solutions to being tired of skiing that don't require traveling to a new place to ski:

-meet and ski with some new people, maybe give tourists a tour of your mountain, or teach someone how to ski

-take a break and focus on something else you like for a few days

-various substances tend to help a lot

I’ve definitely felt this. Usually it comes because I push myself too hard and always expect to have a new experience or new trick, etc. every time I ski.

Basically it’s just pushing the experience and intensity higher and higher and burning up dopamine. It’s basically chasing a high, so to speak.

The way I’ve found to counteract this is to totally slow my skiing down. Do “instructor turns”, as I call them (short radius skid turns), and just slow everything down. Focus on the little enjoyment of being able to physically slide on snow and just the youthful glee it produces. Tune into the smaller things.

Many people in this community, myself included, have a tendency to want to live on the edge and chase thrills/the rush. Just slow down a bit and reset. They even mention this in the book “Powder Days”.

I have felt this before, even to the point I took a few seasons off. I had lots going on in my life many years back and needed to focus on them and myself so skiing took the hit. I stopped in at the local ski/bike shop one day to look at some glasses and they had just put out the seasons new equipment so I had a little look. A buddy that worked there gave me a smoking deal on some new K2 skis and binders, I felt like a little kid again I was so stoked! That was back in 2009 and I still have that feeling to this day. Vibes to you to get this same feeling.

"Powder Days" was so good and had some really good sections talking about the psychology of pushing yourself as a skier. 100% recommended.

I don't know if this is your problem OP, but sometimes I am so driven to progress that I make skiing like a job and try to force things.

Not taking myself to seriously really helps me have a lot more fun on the hill.

I have suffered from this a lot as well. I'm in the process of finishing my last full length edit and I'm hoping that after I finish I'll be able to take things easy more often. Kinda burnt out on working on it tbh.

Added Powder Days to my reading list, that sounds like it would be a very relevant read

Do you have fun doing other stuff mid day? If not then it might be something greater than skiing.

I enjoy tons of other things, skiing just don’t do it for me like it used to

Just based off the fact alone that you have enough freetime to ski a full day and complain when it'd nearing lunch time is uhhh...an interesting take. In the most polite way possible, you don't know good you have it if skiing mid day isn't fun for you anymore.

Might sound whack but stop using the gram or watching any ski content for a bit, good chance you’re subconsciously beating urself up bc of the shit everyone else posts / socials constantly bombarding us with expectations and skiing better than our own. Next time you go out, do tricks you know u can and focus on how they feel not how they look or getting a clip etc. this worked well for me

Be the guy that shows up with the lawn chair and grill. Tell your friends to bring the food and you get to grill it, eat it, chill then go back out for some afternoon laps. Or yeah maybe just diversify your skiing.
