I can't spin for shit and need help

I usually ski all mountain but recently decided to try the park, which I haven't done much of before. I can take off and land jumps ok but as soon as I try to spin I land on my tips and face plant. It's really a beautiful sight. Anyway could anyone shed some light on how to correct this problem? Cheers

Speed and a solid pop is key for every trick. Fully extend your body at the edge of the jump. Be very patient with it. Then initiate the spin with your hips, and look to where you want to land.

Make sure when you throw your spin you throw your arms completely horizontal (If that makes sense). if you throw your arms down diagonally it will make you go off axis and mess u up

Ahh that could explain it. I looked like I was doing a savage butter until the point I tried to stop myself with my face

pop up and spin with your hips. DO NOT pre-spin, that will throw you off balance and have you landing like you are now. Lock your head over your shoulder and do not stop until you can rotate and see the landing.

good luck!

Cheers folks. I'll give it another go tomorrow and probably crash lots. I'll get it eventually though

Dont forget to get your fails and sucess on film

It'll have to be pov because I'm a loner with no friends and the French park skiers intimidate me

don't worry about style or looking cool... your first spins are going to be hucked and sloppy and that is fine; you're learning.

Follow someone into the jump that knows the speed (ski behind them and follow the path that they take into the jump, hit the jump like ten seconds after they do), do some straight airs, get the speed down to where you know you're not going to knuckle but also not going to send it to the Gucci plateau and shit your pants while you're in the air.

Once you have the speed down, it is time to be confident.

Take that speed into the jump. As you're approaching the lip, widen your stance and make sure that your feet are at least shoulder width apart (the further apart your feet are, the easy it is to huck. Notice that when dudes are throwing huge dub spins, they come into the jump with a super wide stance... it is because it helps them spin faster). Again, don't worry about looking cool and feel like your feet need to be together as you carve off the jump perfectly.... just come in with a wide stance and wind up to spin.

as you are coming up on the lip of the jump (still in your wide stance), bend your knees and squat down a little bit... basically get ready to jump, or "pop" off of the lip. You can also come in with your arms already twisting with a little momentum in the direction that you are going to spin.

Once you pop and feel the lip kick you up, let the momentum from that "pre spin" take you in your chosen direction. Bring your knees up towards your body as you spin, this will help it come around and help you kind of center your weight in the air and feel in control.

Assuming that you're trying to do a 360, do not get afraid or hung up at 180. A lot of people don't throw it hard enough because they are afraid they will overrate. For your first 3's it's best to over rotate than under rotate, just so you can feel the full rotation come around.

Doing the 180 is easy... if you come into the jump with a little pre spin and have a nice pop, your body is going to naturally move to 180... make sure that you continue the momentum and don't get afraid when you're back is to the landing and you're blind for a second. If you continue the momentum and don't pause at 180 to try and see where you're at in the air, the 360 will come around no problem and you will realize that it is a super fun, easy, and one day ultra steezy trick that you can do.

Be confident and have fun!

Great advice man worked like a treat. Managed a 180 this morning, wasn't perfect but landed it all the same. I'll try 360's later when I'm bit more confident
