So it seems like everyone here loves long skis but me I’m like 5’8 to the homies 5’10 to the females but I love short skis. I’m east coast which means my max speed is the 30 ft of downhill with snow, yet everyone here seems to love longer skis but I just can’t get behind it. I got them on crazy sale and plan on upgrading to some faction something’s once I wreck these trying to hit an urban clip and get a concussion. Should I go longer yall think?

You should be on at least a 180

I road some rental like 188s in Austria and tried to hit a 1 and ate sum shit but that was also 2 years ago so I don’t know if it’s still accurate on my ability. But basically I just want to preserve my rotational abilities ya know so like would it be worth it to go up in length even if I straight don’t do downhill at all

175-180 would prolly be a good range especially if you’re not super used to long skis. i’m about your height and wouldn’t ride below 180 at this point. you’ll look way cooler too

You'll feel weird on longer skis until you develop the strength and skill to spin them fast, then you'll quickly realize that a ski close to or just above your own height is optimal for balance, control, and style. If you stay on short skis you'll get better at locking rotations and landing well, but you won't improve your ability to have an explosive rotation, and your style will lag behind your skills. Try something in the high 170s with some rocker next, it will feel marginally different and you'll see the benefits.

Also women don't think you're 5'10" they think you're a 5'8" dude who tells women you're 5'10". Not doing yourself any favors on that one

Very good info actually however this was hella unc bro this why everyone hates on new schoolers some of yall are not funny whatsoever???

okay for all of my loyal fans I have decided that I’m just gonna ride the shit out of these and treat them like rentals and take them urban (since I got them for 230) and upgrade to some 180 something’s with rocker that yall reccomended. I even changed the email on my csgo gambling account to a random email that I don’t use so that I’ll still have money by the time I wreck these

I would say that is bullshit, explosiveness comes from something other than your skis.

Bruv, I don't see the point of telling someone how tall you are. They should be able to figure it out themselves.

Size police on your ass. Id just ski whatever you have the most fun on. All these lost soul trend riding hive mind newschoolers all dress and fall in line with whatever they see in the videos. Just do you and youll be happy, dont listen to these people they are all just following trends.

explosiveness is combatting resistance with strength. Longer skis have a heavier swing weight because of physics, and require a more explosive set for spins, and more muscle control overall.

Your skis are wayyyyy too short. There is a point to having skis that you can get technical on but I’m sure you look pretty ridiculous on a 166. For context I’m a woman who is 5’1, skiing 175’s and wouldn’t ride a ski under 170. The math is simple big sticks=big dicks and when I see a man with skis shorter than my own I’m going to laugh at him. I used to ride a shorter ski (161) and I feel so much better with longer skis, better on spinning out, better take off, better landings. Moral of the story here is that size does in fact matter…
