Thomas Quasthoff was born at a time when doctors prescribed thalidomide (in German Contergan) as a sleeping pill. One single pill was enough for the baby to be affected/harmed by it. There were 5000 children born in Germany with handicaps caused by thalidomide.
 
i can see how you may think that i find comedy in his disabilities, but i am not an asshole like many people i know who do see humor in that kind of thing, i do however think it is funny that a clearly talented and probably somewhat famous singer is singing this song,

i dunno if i was into going to see opera or orchestral music, i wouldn't expect this, so i thought it was funny

my b took it personally, there is no tone over the internet, it makes it very hard to understand exactly what someone is saying
