Hyundai-Equus made a muscle car

and it's actually gorgeous. better looking IMO than any of the new-generation muscle cars, mainly because it looks like a combination of a challenger and a late 60s fastback mustang. the front end/grill is a little weird but other than that I think it is beautiful. a modern muscle car that really resembles the golden muscle era of the late 60s- early 70s.

its called the Equus Bass 770, boasts a 640HP, 6.2 litre V8. Equus is labling it as a true american muscle car, and while Hyundai Equus is korean, the car is made in Detroit. not sure how much of the rest of the development is American, or what engine theyre using. sounds like it could be an LS9 but i dont know if Hyundai and GM have any sort of deal on a motor, im just speculating. i cant find a whole lot of reliable info on the car quite yet.

anyways, heres some pictures

if nothing else, it looks pretty damn nice.

only issue is, according to one website, the retail price will be between 250-300 THOUSAND. i dont know how or why, other than that they are all hand built or something. but that is supercar money. here's a little more info:

inb4 nobody cares about this as much as i do.

Damn.. I think it looks great, but $250,000? They can fuck themselves. I thought it was going to be 65-75 max.

Another stupid fucking car by hyndai. When will they get it? People dont want to spend 80k, or 300k for this car, for something that has no "class" or really any appeal. Why would you spend 300k on a hyndai supercar when you could buy a mustang fastback and for that kind of money, make it REDICULOUS, or hell, a sick ferrari or lambo. The fact that they even claim its american muscle really pisses me off considering its korean. Hyundai is and will continue to be a great low to mid end car. They will never be able to compete with mercedes, bmw, audi, lexus strictly because of their reputation. I hope they make this and its a huge failure.

LOL at these two in that category

overpriced VW and overpriced Toyota.

USA is the only continent Lexus exists in, everywhere else it's a Toyota

Also, even after 5 minutes have past, I have rechecked and confirmed that this car is still not made by Hyundai, but an American manufacturer. I will check again in 5 minutes.

If i remember correctly, equus is also a sub-brand of hyundais that has been functioning on asian markets for a while.in north america the only equus model was badged as a hyundai and called the equus. Its weird but im pretty sure thats how it works... but i could be wrong.

Whoever makes it.....that's a nice looking car. Love it and that HP sounds awesome too. But it looks exactly like a Mustang and the logo is a horse....

I would never pay that much for a car like this, but if I had done so I'd feel weird about it's uncanny resemblance to the Mustang.

Yes this is true. Toyota owns makes/owns Lexus. That's why you can put some Toyota replacement parts like headlights and other small things on a Lexus. And in most countries other than the US Lexus isn't a company, they just sell Toyota's with a bit more quality parts/features.

Yeah, Equus Automotive is in no way another brand owned by Hyundai. Equus is coincidentally a model that Hyundai makes and the name of this manufacturer. The Bass is made in Detroit by Equus and Panoz has a hand in it. Then reading around I'm pretty sure it's fitted with a LS9 from the Corvette ZR1 soooo, yeah, far from Asian.

you are wrong. Equus is a boutique american car brand making the bass 770(the car in the article) an is in no way related to Hyundai. Honestly people just Google the car, almost every review mentions how it isn't a Hyundai in the first few paragraphs

im aware of that, but im pretty damn sure the lexus models they sell over here (the netherlands) are completely different from toyota's models and also the same models sold in the US.

that car is beautiful, but you can get fucked for 300k. No fucking way would I EVER spend that kind of money on a HYUNDAI or whatever division of makes this thing.

Bugatti, Lamborghini, Bentley, Porsche, Seat, Skoda, Audi, Ducati. What do all these brands have in common? Oh, that's right. They're all owned by VW. If you think a car like an S6 is nothing more than a glorified Passat, I'm not sure what to tell you other than you are an idiot. They may be made with many of the same parts, but the cars are on two completely different levels.

Not really a muscle car. An essential aspect of muscle cars is that they're affordable. $250k is supercar pricing.

Also, who gives a fuck that it's made in the US? It's still a Korean company. All the money they make still goes right back to Korea.

I'm pretty sure in 2009 VW bought half of Porsche and in 2012 they bought the other half. I'd have to look up the specific details, but I believe VW is officially the parent company of Porsche Automotive.

ah yeah that makes a lot more sense. so nobody needs to be upset that its a Hyundai, because its not. I stand corrected.

and 250k pricing does make a bit more sense if it's a boutique company, and not a major korean sub-brand. still curious as to where the engine in this thing came from though. i think it might be a Chevy/GM motor still but if Panoz is in with Equus then who knows.

Hyundai has always made a buck off expensive cars by making a cheapened model that resembled the luxury ride. This is the exact opposite, and I must say, I'm somewhat impressed. I'd still rather have a fastback though...
