I've been listening to alot of hyphy and learning everything about the culture and now everything makes so much sense in every hyphy song i listen to its intense. for example the song tell me were to go every word that E40 says make complete sense. I love it
 
lol, hyphy is retarded. i can say that, i'm from the bay. you want good rap from the bay check out Zion I, Lyrics Born, Blackalicious and Heirogliphics. Forget about the hyphy movement.

should there be like a ban on hyphy outside the bay? or no becacuse it seems if youre blastin hyphy on the ecoast then ... it doesnt have the same effect? idk im rambling
 
i think hyphy is fucking awesome!! but i also like other rap too, i think it's all good (excludeing soulja boy and eminem)
 
most of you youngins missed the hyphy movement. if anything, you caught the tail end. And yes the lyrics do make sense if you grew up around the bay and understand the background.
 
i know that just saying it seems like a genre that will always be tied to the bay and seems like it would lose that connection as it grows in popularity...i guesss... no actually ihave no clue what im talking about
 
I find it pathetic that an entire genre of music is based around drugs and money and how rich and thug you are.
 
They dont' have a "former name". Are you talking about Souls of Mischief though? They are a part of Heiro, not the former name of them. Nor sure exactly what you're getting at here. Heiro is a collective, when the different groups/individuals came together they dubbed themselves as a group the Hieroglyphics.

actually, it's kind of scary/funny how mnay suburban white kids in the bay think they're thug as shit because they listen to hyphy music.
 
yeah.. the east bay suburbs are loaded with them...

the only time i blast hyphy music and 'go dumb' is when i'm pretty much just making fun of them in every way i can.

central valley CA is the worst. we are close enough to the bay that kids think they know what's up on the block as far as the hyphy movement is concerned (about 3 years behind though,) but we have few enough black people that they can get away with acting hyph.

and good call on the heiro, zion i, and blackalicious. some of my favorite.s
