There must be other hunters on NS.

What do you guys hunt, where do you hunt and what do you use?

Harvest anything cool this season? Post a picture or a story!

Looking to get into hunting or just have some questions about it? Ask away!

I hunt Washington state, mostly just deer and small game, but I did my first turkey hunt in Twisp this year and it was awesome.

I use a compound bow for everything but grouse.

the lobsters at my local supermarket cower in fear whenever they sense my presence. God i love the thrill of the hunt

I hunt tofu. They never see it coming. Usually my reusable bag does the trick but sometimes I go in with the 20" grocery basket with adjustable handles.

If you're hunting animals for food, or safety purposes, have at it. If you're hunting animals just to hunt them and not even use their corpses, I have no respect for you at all

I hunt for several reasons, one of them being that it provides the healthiest and best meat available. Sometimes I hunt food for my dog - rabbits, squirrels, etc... I also just really enjoy hunting.

I care a lot about local ecosystems and hunting is one of the best ways to help maintain them.

I hunt a significant amount. Deer, bear, turkeys, waterfowl. Bow, rifle, muzzleloader, and shotgun. I also bowfish for carp during the summer months. I had a really excellent season this year and even won the local big buck contest. For me, hunting is a year-round pursuit. I spend a truly significant amount of time studying Google Earth and topo maps, then putting boots to the ground and scouting potential areas I have identified. Learning animal movements and patterns is a game I will never tire of. It's something where the effort I put into it really makes me appreciate my harvests all that much more.

I hunt deer and rabbits. Mainly just go round logging areas in the back of a pickup with your mate driving. You spot some fresh sign or an animal on the ridge then pop em (yes I use the corpses)

But one time there was a heard of wild goats and we used them for target practised

Fuck yeah, the gun/deer thread seems to have died off. Didn’t hunt when I was a kid (fuck ontario), but finally started now that I moved to Idaho. Was going for rabbits and grouse in the fall, hoping to get me a turkey this spring.

went duck hunting with my uncle in Tennessee when I was 9 and I hated every second of it. I thought it was the most boring shit ever lol but I want to try it out again sometime. threads.

Duck hunting is more fun with beer. Also, did you end up getting any ducks?

Southern Ontario? Grew up in Peterborough and no shortage of hunting/hunters, especially a little farther north.

I was in the kitchener/guelph area, really no huntable land unless you went past peterborough/barrie, or farther. plus, I grew up in a really anti-hunting family, so no amount of public land would have helped

Heres my girlfriend’s bow that I got her for her birthday last year. I’m using it this weekend to get some rabbits with these expandable broad heads.

2019 Hoyt Klash with 70lb max limbs. Pretty awesome bow; it’s really small and easy to adjust the draw length and weight really fast.

I like to hunt on Alaska, the views there are freaking breathtaking. By the way I like to hunt on swamps. I like all the things regarding mud. Starting from off road and ending with hunting in swamps. There is something charming for me in it. But you need to have good equipment to hunt there. I mean a good kit, boots and et cetera. I buy every season a new pair of boots by the way. Recently found good boots from WLC. I bought myself a good pair of Danner Men’s Pronghorn 8” Uninsulated Hunting Boot. I like them because they are waterproof, warm and breathable. What do you think about them?)

I blasted some ducks with my great grandpa's old double barrel this winter. First time hunting and it was pretty damn fun and we got some good meat out of it.

I've been hunting since I was a kid - shot my first spruce grouse when I was seven. I'm from Alaska so I grew up eating basically just moose, caribou, salmon, and halibut for meat.

These days, we hunt Dall sheep, moose, and caribou primarily. Current primary rifle for those animals is a Tikka T3 SuperLite in .300 winmag. My husband and I were supposed to do an archery elk hunt in New Mexico this fall, but COVID screwed that up for us. Now planning a moose hunt in September to fill the freezer!

I got a moose once up in Ak. It was great and all but I hit it with a 2004 mazda 3 so it was a pretty expensive shot.

Thats awesome I hope I can get up there to hunt sometime. how do you like your t3x superlite? I just ordered one in .308 I bet that winmag kicks like a sonofabitch with it being so light.

blyat. good on ya for huntin with a moisin. hope to snag an sks for a deer gun soon

I picked up a Finn m39 at the end of the summer. I'll post a pic at some point if I remember. Prices have since skyrocketed. I'd imagine the SKS market is gonna get crazy pretty soon too, so good luck! Let us know what you find

Yesssssss I like you more every time you post! You should put in for something in Alaska sometime!

Sorry you weren't successful. We didn't even get to go hunting this year. My husband blew his ACL, and I've been stupidly busy with work and have two kids (3 and 5). We just got that RZR so we'll be able to take the kiddos hunting with us next year, but this year was a total bust.

The Governor of colorado shut down every spot I scouted this summer and I just bought a $160 bino harness at sportsmans because someone put it on the wrong rack and I was too embarrassed to tell the cashier to put it back when they rang it up. So my seasons not off to the best start. hopefully I can turn my luck around and get a muley this weekend.

I just got into duck hunting this year, it is so much fucking fun, the meat is by far the best meat I have eaten. I am hoping to get some grouse and maybe a turkey. I like hunting just as much as skiing.

Who/where does your friend guide for/at, and which species? We fish hard. Let me know if you make it up - I always love meeting other badass outdoorswomen.

Good luck - I hope you're able to harvest!

Very nice. I’m in Canada, so I’m not super worried about sks prices, up here, they’re more stable than our dollar. Got skunked on everything today. Kicked up a buncha grouse, but missed all my shots lol. The lack of ranges were I’m living is really starting to show.

I’m not sure who he guides with, I know it’s near Fox Island though. They mostly trout fish.

thanks!! Hoping to tag out this weekend.

What are the public land shooting laws there? In the US you can shoot on National Forest land anywhere 150 yards away from any structure as long as there's a backstop and you're not shooting across a body of water or road

The laws are basically the same here. The only problem is that in my part of Canada, public land is basically nonexistent. The patch that I hunt is about 12 square miles, and really close to Toronto, so its the only public land for several million people. Everything there is super pressured.

Going to be out and about for elk opener tomorrow in southwest Montana. I shoot a 30-06 for deer, elk, and pronghorn.
