HUGE double standard?

I'm not sure if I'm the only one who caught this, but after Andreas's slopestyle run that put him into 3rd, Bobby Brown snapped his pole and walked off. Didn't Simon get FLAMED for not congratulating Torin and generally being a poor sport? Just curious about his.

See they didnt film bobby, but dumont had a camera on him the whole time.

Also hating on dumont is what all the cool people do.

I say everyone is aloud to be upset if they loose. They train so hard.

Agreed they have the right to be mad, but they did film it. I saw it on the broadcast of slopestyle on ESPN but it was sort of hard to catch.

look, simon got sooooo shafted at x this year. torin was good but he shouldnt have gotten 2nd, simon should have at least got silver if not won.
torins soo good for his age but you cant have a handicap at x games, he missed grabs and if dumont or rolland did that they wouldnt have won or got third. yes his dub at the end was dope but that cant weigh it out.
jus becase someones upset that they didnt do as well as they were expecting and doesnt mean the should go suck rollands dick and tell him how well hes done

didnt see that! What a dick move! especially about a guy like hatveit. he should have shaken his hand.

Ehhh true. It really does seem like he is a huge dick during competitions, but I hear that he is nice when he is just shredding around. That's a dub standard.

Cause he got mad that he lost the biggest comp of the year?

He had so much pressure on him and he didn't succeed. I would be super upset too.

You guys need to stop thinking that everyone is super stoked when they lose.

He's always been the way he is

he threw a water balloon at my friends skateboard in a water balloon fight like 7 years ago... didn't even come close to apologizing

He's just intense and competitive

just because he didnt immidiatly congratulate andreas doesnt mean that he never did.

god damn NS is a bunch of fucking anti-competitive pussies!

Grow a fucking pair. id would be heated if i just lost...cause i love winning and beating other people. oh and im pretty sure that bobs pole was already bent when he broke it. he kinda just bent it aroun d his boots...didnt snap it over his knee or nothing.

again, dont hate on people who are more competitive than you.

The camera definitely panned away immediately when Bobby did that. Right after the score, they showed Bobby and he just bent over and gripped his pole on either end and bent it around his ski boots, then tossed it down. It was a really quick glimpse and then the camera went to another angle.

However Bobby definitely has a better overall attitude in the interview. Still smiling and loving where he was, he was just angry that he couldn't podium.

I didn't see the Dumont interview though.. I do know his run was better than Torin though. Shouldve been Rolland, Dumont, Torin but I think the age was a factor to the judges. That or the dub flat that wasn't thrown by anyone else.

this thread is a double standard. i know i get pissed when i dont win, i dont see why it would be any different for professional athletes.

on a side note i think ESPN pumps up the events way to much. They show the guys that are "on the bubble" and when they get knocked out they smile and laugh and congradulate the other guys(most of the time). its funny to me cuz i dont think it fits to well

Are you kidding?

watch him after he messed up his last run. he tossed off his goggles and hat and im sure he would have loved to chuck the rest of his stuff off and have a fit that would make simon blush BUT he picked up the stuff he threw on the ground and put a smile on, and tried his best to be stoked for everyone else.

maybe he got mad after but hey can you blame the guy? at least he was a little less obvious about it

They have the right to be mad, but they should do there best to keep it off camera, being a poor sport just dampens the reputation of free skiing.

why? you wouldnt be bummed if you just got knocked off the podium?

yes he needs to be professional and look good for the tv audience, but i definitely dont lose any respect for him just because he broke his pole

ive broken poles over shit way smaller then that... Like not getting a trick for a couple hours. BOBBY IS STILL HUMAN. just throwing that out there... HUMANS HAVE EMOTIONS! yay for you stupid fucks. bet most of you would be way more pissed off.

well at leasat we can all agree on this, Tom Wallicsh would have made the results of x games a lot diffferent if he was healthy....

he didn't do to well last year if I recall

And it is understandable if bobby was pissed because he was not performing on the level he knew he could

I swear everyday I come on Newschoolers and there someone bitching about Simon. Bobby did act like an idiot but they only filmed him walking out pouting for like 2 seconds

i got real tired of all the various commentators sucking bobby's dick the whole time. but then again what can one expect from x games?

I know this is skiing and all an its all good no worries bra. but id be fucking pissed to if i lost a major national competion that probably gives shitloads of money out. hes a professional competitive athlete he is suposed to be competitive. if he loses and thought he should have won most athletes would be pissed.

Bobby silently broke his pole against his boot, like snapping a twig. he didnt know he was being filmed probably. no big deal

because rumor has it that torin went up to simon to tell him good job. keeping in mind that he has looked up to simon according to x games (may be a very invalid sorce). then after telling simon good job simon told him FUCK YOU as if it was all torins fault....besides simon dumont is known around the world to be a class a douchbag and a class a complainer. this is all by rumor though

Think about how pissed you are after you fuck up at a local rail jam or comp. Now imagine it being your life and job. Now imagine training for it all year. Now imagine a camera in your face the entire time. Now try and tell me you wouldnt do more than bend your pole?

You know what. It doesnt matter. Skiing is about having fun. If these guys who like to compete love it and think its more gratifying than anything else they've found in their lives, fuck it, let them have their ups and downs. I'd argue that the people that can cover their emotions at the podiumm, because of what their sponsors or brands would think of them, arent doing it for love anymore. If you love to compete and the down days are overpowered by the times when its good, you should do it, and fuck what anyone else thinks.

Have none of you ever played any other sport? If you've made it to the hockey final and lose in overtime, do you fucking cheer for the other team because 2nd is just as good?

These guys train their ass off all year, who gives a fuck that they get mad if they lose.
