HTML disabled in Messages?

Yah, it doesn't work in messages anymore. Do you use it much???

CAuz I have to make the choise between:

1) Dissallowing all HTML tags and just have everything typed in be shown as is. Meaning if you type in: test, that is what the recipient will see... not test

2) Stripping all HTML tags and allow simple stuff like B,U and I like in the news commenting or signatures.

Thoughts on this anybody?

Hmm.. alright. I'll probably strip the HTML tags and only allow specific ones like B, U, I. Anything else would be removed.

HTML is now limited in messages. You can use i, u, b, ol, li and that's it.

Links are automatically made out of urls, and if you want a url displayed as an image you surround it with IMG../IMG

Read the NS Help for more info on this.

Nice work with that. Is there any reason why double quotes are automatically changed to single quotes? It's not a huge issue, but it's been like that for as long as I can remember.

Right, well instead of changing a double quote to a single one, couldn't the scripts be modified to have it change to a " (html code for double quote)?

hah, just allow all html commands. That way I could plug in background music that plays evertime I make a post, or flash movies.. that could get interesting.

Anyways, nice work. having some html commands is sweet.. but too many can mess things up. Just the basic ones are nice. B / U / I/ Ahref / img /

Eat. Sleep. Breathe. Ski.

Yeah, Here is an example of why ALL html codes can be bad...

The other day my friend sent me some php/html code so that I could look over it for him. He sent it to be in a PM. Part of this code had a javascript redirect in it.

So, whenever i went to MyNS>Messages it woould run the redirect code and I would get redirected to some other page.. that didnt exist on NS's server. It was crazy! Luckily, Paul was kind enough to delete that message for me.

Yes, you can print quotes in echo statements, and use them for database queries. It's just that they have to be handled properly so they don't fuck up your code.

Alot of the old code doesn't properly account for certain characters, so as a defense, those characters are replaced with something else.

You'll notice that in the messages and News commeting, you can use double and single quotes.
