my 2 year plan for sprint is up at the start of june and i get a free new phone upgrade! prob gonna get the HTC evo pro, the phone is absolutely bananas. displays in 720p HD, has an hdmi output so i can put whatever i shoot with the 8.0 megapixel cam on an HD tv, and has a 1.3 megapixel camera on the front. 1ghz processor, 1gb memory, etc etc. 4.3 inch display, runs flash, and best of all, its gonna be on a 4g network and is gonna be fast as balls. i hope. oh and it runs android apps

^ true this because the iphone is such a status symbol... even though the evo is better in literally every way hardware wise, it will never overtake the iphone

I hope you didn't buy this yet, This phone looked extremely fascinating to me too, and since the iPhone came out, the only other phones I honestly think compare to it are the HTC android phones. But not this one...

Read this: http://techcrunch.com/2010/05/29/htc-evo-4g/

This article claims that the battery only lasts for around 4 hours without the 4g network even running...

the evo 4g is perfect on paper, but as mentioned above, the battery life is below average.

also, the 4g network is extremely patchy in the us, so be ready to be using 3g most of the time.

i would still buy the phone though. it's actually perfect. when the hd2 came out, i was like fuck, make an android one and ill buy it! too bad im in canada, ill just have to settle for the desire...

#1 reason to buy an android based operating system is the fact that they are the only platform in which flash is working with to create the ability to run full flash-
for phones available for use in America it has to be android based all they way- they are the only os besides windows mobile(weaksauce) that supports hsdpa(think 6g) networks- which hopefully if t-mobile would ever pull its head out of its ass, will be arriving in America

android 2.2 froyo killed all needs for a task manager. its so much faster its absurd, and flash on my nexus one is super sick.
i got on the private developer program for Adobe AIR for Android a few weeks ago and now that its public expect a ton of apps for android made by super competent flash developers (like myself :) to be out in the coming weeks when it goes full live.
the only issue with what u guys hvae been saying is that it comes running flash, which isnt true since the evo is still slated to be running the sense ui on top of 2.1, which wont have fp10.1, but since 2.2 is such a retarded upgrade all of the handset manufacturers who are running android right now are doing EVERYTHING they possibly can to push out updates to their phones (sense or not) asap.
and yes, u can trust what i say, think 'insider'.
but yea android is basically just a hobby for google as per their presentation at google i/o and its only going to get better in the coming months/year because of the sheer number of devices slated to be running it. everyone seems to be jumping on the android boat so we jus gotta wait and see how much of an improvement the new iphone will be.
competition is good for consumers. period.

except android is open source and windows AND apple both are not. Basic use of Android os isn't anymore complicated then an iPhone, but it also allows people to have complete control of their system if desired.

how do you say much more complicated?- i hit music- my music pops up- i hit call0 it dials- everything can be found by just typing on the home page - i dont understand how its complicated?- phonescoop and plemix.com- the 2 nig cell phone reviewers both have rated android's os much easier than the iphone- and 1000x easier than windows mobile- and why arent open standards better- now any person can make their app for their website- ie ns can make an app without having to go get approval, testing etc.- if it sucks- the android maket allows you to comment rate etc,

and the main reason why android beats the shit out of everything is that by buying an android you dont need to go buy a new phone in the future when America finally gets hsdpa- so you can have fun with3g- while most hsdpa networks in europe are pulling 14mb/s- ie twice the speed on basic high speed cable internet

and all os suck compared to nokias osiva- just dont ever expect to see that here in Ameirca though

I've already played with the evo. (claim) very similar setup to the incredible, but it's a little bigger (screen). can't attest to the battery as I only played with it for about 20 minutes. depending on their ability to get the battery up to par, I'd definitely consider buying one. (i'm a huge phone snob - worked in telecom for about 5 years) with a battery that lasted all day, I'd call it the hottest phone on the market (or soon to be). guess we'll have to see...

thinking about it too... but i think it's like $90 a month & you'll have to wait until sprint decides to update the OS, unlike nexus 1 that will get updates as soon as they are released

its very very very very hard not to get excited about this phone, but, I'm going to save my stoke till it comes out.

i have the HTC droid incredible that came out last month, but its really slow for messaging and some apps run all the time, its pretty sick but when it gets slow i wanna throw it against the wall. i dont know if i'd reccommend it to anyone

Yay for fellow spring users/boston fans. I have the samsung instinct and it looks like a piece of shit compared to the evo. My contract is up soon, how costly would an upgrade to the evo be?

i think they're going to be $200 on upgrade. the stupid part is that you have to add an additional (more expensive) data package (not just standard data) to your account.

ever thought about getting rid of the apps that continuously run in the background? or clearing out some of the 12,000,000 text messages you have in your different folders? my girl has the incredible and that phone fucking smokes. it's the fastest, most responsive smart phone i've ever used.

got the evo... phone is absolutely awesome. does so much cool shit, so customizable, so easy to work with, so fast, and videos are so crisp. and the camera is ridiculously good. the only downside is that such a powerful phone has a battery life that doesnt last very long, only about a day

would you mind elaborating on this a little more? battery life that is. what is your definition of about a day? what kind of usage do you have? Approx minutes, texts, and data in a day? stream a lot of video? use the camera quite a bit? email set up? set to push or fetch? screen brightness settings?
how is the reception in sketchy areas? good antennae? better than a 755 or at least equal to it?
I'm trying to get a good feel for it before I buy and I can't have a phone that doesn't make it at least 18 hours with moderate usage, but I've been more impressed with this phone than I have any other recent smart device on the market . (and that's a bold statement considering i've been tweaking smart phones since before the treo 600 days.) the battery could be a deal breaker for me though.

I played with one for a day about 4 weeks ago, and I have to say hands down it is the best phone I have ever used.

The build quality is impeccable. Everything feels solid,no cheap parts used. Even the little kick stand feature felt super solid. The screen is amazing, it is large and super clear and the processor this phone has makes any app or basic function work soooo smoothly. I played with it for a day and as long as you can charge it at night, you will have no problem making the battery last the day unless you are filming constantly. It was taken off the charger at 6am and plugged back in at around midnight and was used fairly heavily throughout the day.

This is a superb phone and as far as I can tell, it is the best on the market at this time. While in 4G areas, it was ridiculously fast and we used 2 laptops on it for a hotspot and the speed was close to DSL.

As far as your 18 hour requisite, I don't think you should run in to any problems with that, but it is pretty close to the limit if you were to be putting it through moderate/heavy usage throughout an entire day.

Also, if you do get this phone, get a case because when you set the phone on its back, the camera lens is a contact point.

i had mine about 75% charged and it lasted me about 8ish hours of pretty much nonstop usage. i was watching videos, texting, playing around with it, etc etc almost the entire time. about an hour of it was used for light graffiti lol where it was on a blank bright white screen the entire time. idk about 18 hours, but it should last from when you wake up to when you go to bed with solid usage. mines on autobrightness

fuckin' dope. I'm glad to hear a couple of you vouch for it lasting all day with above average usage. Looks like I've got a new phone to buy....

today's breakdown:

15h 30m since unplug

36% cell standby

20%phone idle

19%android system

11% wifi

7% display

7% apps

fuck, P-face why do you have the same phone as me you left wing, communist, nut bag?
lol jk how did you get 16 hours?
BTW, I LOVE this phone. I have always been a "nothing will kill the iphone type of guy" but If this phone had apples marketing, it would not only kill the iphone but probably rape it first too.
They make a 3500 mah battery! stock is 1500 mah. Eventually theyll have the dock too, so ima just pop it into my monitor at work (with HDMI) and watch hd shit while it charges. yay.
The dock is gonna be the tits. They need to make a wireless on though that would be superb

Then why do Apple Iphone sales blow the Droid sales out of the water? I mean damn over 600,000 iphone 4's were pre ordered in the first day that you could pre-order them, I think that's saying something......

my bro just got this phone and absolutely loves it, thing is so sick, super fast and pretty much does anything you could ask for

i guess you've never heard of commie-topia... highest standard of living in the communist world

not using 4g makes it last a pretty good while, today i got down to 8% after 15 hours, turned the wifi & gps off for the last 15% or so just to stretch it.

Still, managed to watch about half of the spain/suisse game, and track down a few news stories in the middle of work today.

i can't believe 600,000 people are stupid enough to pre-order the ihype, especially with phones like ours, available now.

it was only recently announced man! only the n1 has it, and only because it's directly through google.

i heard from a bird that june 23rd or 24th will be magical, so be patient!

imo iphone 4 doesnt have the ability to compete with the evo or the hd2 or the incredible for that matter
