HS Football

so my senior year, something i worked very hard for as football is my favorite organized sport. about the only thing that's equivalent to the feeling i get during skiing.

friday night we lost our sectional game against a team we should've beat, not because we didn't play to our ability, but because we were not prepared and we were out coached by the other team.

our pre-game pep talk was "dont worry about winning, go have fun" now i support this...but is it really more important on the varsity level to put having fun over preparing correctly in order to win. our coach is not very football smart as he is the offensive line coach calling our plays during the game. we added numerous plays to get an advantage at practice during the week like a motion and a wishbone formation...we used neither of these

its hard to get through my head that unless i play football in college, i may never put pads on again. so im asking any football fan, should a varsity coach put having fun over winning?

I think that large shits right on the 50 yard line, is far far FAR more important than you never wearing football pads again. And besides, those things stink after a season.

i think that fun is a huge part of all sports but at the varsity level it is really about competing and in the game of football if you dont want to win get off the field

it was a mudbath so believe me it was tons of fun. were a passing team as both our recievers are 6'4 and tanks. but when its pooring we shouldve went to the run game. not fair to the kids that care about the season the way some of us did
