What up guys. Im coming out there in a few days and there has been so much speculation on how bad whis has been this season. Is it really that bad..? Basically what i am trying to ask is how is the snow and the skiing, thanks

it was bulletproof this past weekend. But they just got 11cm last night, so that will have softened it up a bit.

The trees are sketchy, but there is some soft stuff around (Jersey lift line was decent). Can't comment on the park, I don't go in there.

They got some snow yesterday, but it's still pretty damned icey in certain areas. Most of the mountain is 10ish cm of soft powder over a layer of solid ice. Blackcomb's blue park is, as always, pretty damn good. Lots of rails and a 3-5 jump line ( i don't remeber exactly how many there was)

If you know where to look theres some really good skiing, groomed runs and the usual spots are bullitproof and blue. Although the really good stuff doesnt have enough coverage, as I said there is plenty of treats and fresh if you know where you are going. Cant comment on the park, i dont fly that way.

If you ski park, it will be alot for fun. Blackcomb's park is sick, and they are always making snow for it.

I just skied yesterday and was out from the east coast. What whistler folks call "ice" is really just east coast hard pack, you can still lay a decent edge. I skied the day after the 11cm snowfall and was one of the first ones to drop into blackcomb glacier and it was untracked. That was unreal but the mountain did get tracked out pretty quick. If youre goin from the east coast the conditions will be just fine.

not a park rat so i cant comment to much on that, but its pretty good. Snow wise we are majjjorly lacking snow. super scepitcal in some zones with underlying rocks ready to fuck you. But we just a bit of snow so you can find some soft spots if you hike... flute bowl for example

im coming out tomorrow and after reading this thread im kinda dissappointed. is it really that bad??

compared to what it should/ can be....yes....

if your not used to the west, you will have a blast, best day out east isnt even an average day out west.

Utah is the place to be right now tho...

Yeah, it's bad by our standards. At least, since last year was epic and this year is a little lacking the gap seems HUGE. It's still really fun (especially the parks), but nowhere near as good as it could be.

you guys are so negative.

i grew up in whistler so don't tell me that i am being stupid.

for the little amount of snow we have gotten this season the sow quality has been great. its just that we only get like 5cms here and 10 there and then 40 one day then it sky rockets to +12C

so, it may be a shitty season for snow, but the quality we have had is better than getting 100cms of slush.
