How to take real good care of ur ski boots

With full tilt going out of business I think its finnaly time we really take care of our ski boots. Any suggestions on how we give our ski boots extra lives and make them last longer?

1. when putting your boots in storage for an extended period of time, make sure the liners are completely dry and buckle the boots up to the same tension that you normally have them at when your feet are in them. 2. If you’re at all concerned about making a specific pair of full tilts last, consider buying a few spare parts now (buckles and especially foot sole pieces as these are sure to wear over time). Who knows if K2 will offer the exact same spare parts next year. I could see them not doing that or making their parts not compatible with full tilts to force all full tilt riders to eventually make the switch to their new boots. Hope these thoughts help!

This in addition to keeping them out of a damp area such as a basement when storing during the off season. It may seem obvious but when you dry your boots off at the end of a day, avoid placing them right next to a hot fireplace as previous shell stretches (if any) may return back to their original state. Even worse, your boots may melt.

Unfortunately, boots are disposable and need to be replaced every 150 days give or take but proper care definitely goes a long way.

I've been riding my old atomic boots for an average of 5and a half days a week for two seasons and I bought them used at trollhougens ski swap. They still feel fine

Made thus thread for tips to the boys who all ride full tilt. Since there going outta business we rly needa keep our boots in tip top shape so they last beyond the k2 boots

Nice glad they're working out for you. There's certainly nothing wrong with continuing to ski them but you won't get the full performance benefit that you will from a new boot. After a while the liner typically packs out to the point where fit tension is severely degraded and the foot isn't as contained when they were new. I've skied in boots for upwards of 300 days and it wasn't until my next new pair until I realized how much control and articulation that was sacrificed from the old pair.

No idea. I beat the living shit out of mine. The only thing I do to preserve them is buckling the straps up to retain the shape after taking them off, and wiping dirt off em

I know :)

all spares will still be available. We are not really changing anything but the branding. That’s it. All the boots you know will still be made as will all the spare parts. What does change is the ft logo changes to a k2 logo and we are adding a bunch of new models to make the lineup the best it has ever been.

any specific questions let me know.

Can you add a model with an insanely narrow low volume heel and ankle pocket?

I mean we could but it would not be something we are doing before other models I’m afraid.

for super low volume rear foot footbeds and custom liners will be the best thing for sure.

if you really really really care about your boots, wear little rubber booties over them while walking up stairs and through the parking lot. racers do this to prevent the soles from wearing down as fast.

The other points mentioned are also good ideas. especially with a traditional style boot, keep them buckles done up (not too tight) to keep the plastic shell in its proper shape. Too many of my friends just leave their boots all summer undone.

but then again how many of us want to look like racers

You seen Corey Jackson wearing those damn Ill moros for the past 3 seasons? Guy has to have atleast 250+ days on them.. I'd say you can usually get more out of a boot

I remember seeing pics of pros hoarding like 8 pairs of SPK's

Candide took like 25 pairs from Salomon after he left the team. He just uses a pair a year.
