I had an exam today and i totally failed it, i just couldnt remember what formula/type of math to use for each question. I have an 88 in the class so im not bad at math i just had couldnt remember shit. I have another on friday and i need helpful tips on studying tecniques to help my grade. Btw its only grade 10 and i know it will get harder.

The best "studying" for math is just do tons of practice problems. It will get you more used to the types of questions so you will be better at analyzing them and figuring out how to solve them.

if you're in algebra twoooyou should remember most formulas....what math are you in/

pre calc?

or are you in canadian math like math 10 ahha

The only way to get better at math is to actually do it. Find a good set of practice problems and work through them while listening to music.

I am in grade 10 also algebra 2 honors. Your best bet is to go to the teacher after school (I know it fucking sucks but its the only way) and have them walk through individual problems with you. You can do practice problems but if you dont understand what you are doing its not gonna help. Also its the beginning of the semester so relax.

I get like 90s on all the tests so i know what im doing i just need a refresher. Should i go to a tutor for one night?

practice practice practice

then practice

practice a bit more

then keep practicing

do more problems then are assigned

ask. questions.

do practice problems and come up with paterns or little saying or somthin like that in your mind to remember formulas. im in calc and thats how i do it.

flash cards dont hurt either. you could put a type of problem on one side, and the appropriate formula on the other. and most importantly dont be near the internet when you are supposed to be doing worklike im doing.

right now.

fuck

I'm lucky where as someone explains it it just comes to me. not much studying. but one day we had a test and I just totally just forgot how to do everything. it wasn't even hard just one test I completely forgot how to do matrices. bombed that test. it happens.

But on how to study I think most people will tell you to just run practice problems and that helps some people but I would say look more at the theory of your particular unit. look at what you are trying to accomplish and what sort of tools you can use. Factoring something out always helps and it is often over looked.

I cram formulas. no matter how much practice I do I ALWAYS forget fucking formulas. Obviously you need to practice if you want to actually learn the stuff, but for the test you also have to cram formulas. No time to derive that shit on the test.

Lets just say that i may have mixed up some the formulas for integrating the sine raised to a power. (this was before we learned integration by parts) walked out of the testing center and git a 58% on my first college exam ever...

Not sure about that. Maybe if you whack off just before your tests your head may be in the wrong place. Also I find I do worse on tests if I smoke a lot the night prior. This one test day I woke up stoned and took my test stoned I got a C+ not terrible. There were definitely people who did worse and weren't high. I should have gotten an A and studied instead using that time to get high. From then on I study hard 2 nights before the test then study the next day, no smoking or drinking during those two days. After the test I reward myself, which usually entails me smoking a dumb amount of weed wasting 40 bucks and the next day I'm dry, it is what it is.

1. Practice and review the theory

2. Put the equasions in your calculator if its a graphing one. Program--->new and then from there you are good. Btw equal signs and all that are under *second* math

shit i remember when i was in 10th grade math. or maybe it was 11th grade. either way, i stayed after school for help every damn day because i sucked at it. and i had a math tutor.

A2 and precalc bent me over every single day. that sucked, mainly because my teachers were terrible and in algebra 2 hot girls sat next to me and i got nosebleeds sometimes

depending on what math youre in check these outhttp://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IxWfRmYbHYc&list=ECA0B3471F221DBEBA

im learning algebra 2 this way so i can test into higher math in college. its working pretty well so far

I'm in literally the exact same situation, 10th grade and just took my algy 2 midterm today. I blanked on everything possible, while on all the individual tests I was getting consistently high 80s. Sucks, but I guess practice makes perfect for next time...

I went in for extra help during lunch and se went over alot i wasnt sure about. Mark got brought down to an 85 after my 60% on the first exam so if i do good on this exam (hopefull high 80 low 90) ill be ok. If anyone cares what were learning i. Ontario is trig, quadratics/linear relations, geometry

math is easy to get by with an 80% average until you finish calc 2. Then if you didn't pay attention to your shit you will have to relearn everything to do well in actual math courses. Even just in multivariable calculus you will be jealous of the people who actually studied hard in first year.

this is the best strategy I have found at studying for math

Yeah Khan Academy is pretty awesome, he went from tutoring his cousins across the country via youtube to getting funded by google. He's got pretty much every level math and tons of practice problems. The only way you'll get better is repetition, keep on grinding out problems on the practice page and if you just don't get it watch the video.

practice problems and more practice problems. particularly for high school calculus and algebra.

though i did have a proof-based geometry class in high school and that was a lot of memorization of theorems and corollaries. still have to do practice problems for those too.

Cough not allowed to use a calculator on any tests cough...

At least in calc 2. I can use a calc in my stats for engineers class thankfully.
