This is my second year of park skiing and being in a place like virginia, Wintergreen resorts as good as it gets most the time. Anyway i swing my arms time to time to turn onto rails. Sometimes i don't and sometimes i do. I have to keep reminding myself. Any tips to stop? Also i don't use poles maybe should?

if you try really hard to swing your arms it counteracts the bodys natural motion and your arms will stay at your side

Just really think about keeping your arms by your thighs, go to the smaller park where you got the rails no problem and try to hit them with your hands in your jacket pockets. I did that and it helped a ton. Then I started riding with poles again, and I love it! Its so much easier to keep my arms by my side or just raised a bit. Also poles will help your non pole style too!

How old are you? I always used to flail until i turned like 14 and started to get a little more coordinated and build some muscle. Poles at that age also helped a lot and i use poles now because just that little added weight in your hands keeps your arms held down a bit.

If you think about it and try not to, it will eventually become second nature to keep your arms down. Also the more comfortable you get on rails and jumps, it will occur much less.

it just comes over time as you get more used it

If you really want to quit swinging your arms you need to take off and keep your core muscles tighter. Skiing should come from the core anyway and your arms are there just for balance not initiating a spin. Try focusing on keeping your abs tight when you go to jump onto a rail. Simply carve in, pop and set your hips 90 degrees. If your core is flexed your shoulders will follow and you will feel more balanced on the rail.

Try it.

Focus entirely on keeping your arms down, hitting easy rails and just concentrating on your style is a great way to improve your skiing
