How to stay positive.

I’ve recently been trying to become a more positive person and stop thinking negatively about stuff. How do you guys stay positive even when your not skiing or just in general?

meditation! even just dipping your toes into it a little is great and so good for the mind

also exercise. so good for your mind and body, even if it's just a walk around the neighborhood

LOL I love it when kids go through the, "life laugh love" phase. Enjoy the next couple of weeks because eventually one of your "friends" will fuck you over, your girlfriend will cheat on you, your dog will die, you'll end up in the hospital with an infection that will rack up 20 grand in medical bills, your car will break down and eventually you will get addicted to pain killers.

Have a wonderful day!

Life goes on and someone always has it worse than you. Just chill and ride out the wave until the next one crashes. Don't get caught up on stupid shit

I think it takes a conscious effort everyday...realizing that positivity/ happiness is really a choice you can make. Focus of the good things in your life, on others, and not letting the little things brings you down...i find that negativity / depression at least for me is really self focused state..if you focus on others and how to improve someone else's day it definitely changes the mindset. Ya it's corny but I think it helps....

Also for people like us (assuming your a skier / live an active lifestyle that thrives off of adventure / new experiences) it is tough when routine sets in and things aren't exciting...finding positivity in the process, even not so exciting things, is really important, because life isn't always exciting and new

Ya, getting caught up on little dumb shit is a habit for most of us I think.

Focusing on the big picture rahter than little things that are negative is definilty helpful.

i have the same problem but even doing it every now and then when you realize you need it works wonders IMO

as for tips on staying on it, my suggestion would be to just try to get used to it being a part of your life. for someone like me and presumably you, using meditation doesnt mean that we spend an hour alone in a room sitting cross legged or anything..more likely you just do it at school or work or on the bus or when you realize youre feeling overwhelmed or bogged down

what i like about it is that it's something you can practice and try different approaches to. for me the toughest part is just making myself do it consistently. i usually only do it for a minute or two at a time with the alarm set on my phone

I present to you Skierman's autobiography!

Talking to people, to anyone or about anything, works wonders imo. It gets your mind off the bad shit for a little while. And if you're alone and there really isn't anyone to talk to, the gym or a fat blunt is my go-to.

Honestly, what's worked for me, is working out or physical exercise in general. The times when I'm sitting on my ass doing nothing are the times when I feel the worst.

When I'm being lazy around my mind wanders "why aren't you doing anything productive?" or "You're sitting on your computer wasting your life away" or "Remember that random moment when you fucked up 4 years ago?" or "School is NEVER going to end I can't get through this" or other negative shit.

After a workout, run or anything else physically demanding (including skiing) you feel like you've accomplished something. Plus, I don't know if its just me, but I feel really good after a hard workout, almost like a high. So I would say being active is a big part of happiness at least for me.
