How to Shape

I just did a quick search and there is nothing on jump shaping. I am preping my winter setup but I don't know anything about shaping jumps. Does anyone know of instructions or a tutorial or even some cool features I could shape. I know there are a lot of park crew members on here so throw me a line here.

Regardless of the size of the jump, just remember to make make the transition from the ground to the lip it gradual, less is more. Most people build their first jumps super poppy and they throw you weird which makes it difficult to learn how to correctly pop or learn balance in the air.

When you say winter setup...are we talking a 5ft kicker in your parents backyard or a small mountain park?

I am building a setup in my yard. I have a plan for a rail or two but I don't know how to shape jumps for the rails or anything else

get your favorite shovel and your painters smock, and go all Peublo Picasso on that motherfucker. Its snow its a really easy medium to work with you know its only frozen water. Then build it, hit it, fix it, until she's tuned in. Boom! as for what to build, get stoned (or not) watch edits scratch your chin (or balls) and think "do I have room and snow to build that?" then proceed to reference the top of this post. I have done what I can, now all you need is snow.

this is how i built mine. depending on the temps they worked out pretty well.

1. Get a big mound of snow, bigger than what you plan on your jump being.

2. Pack it in as much as you possibly can, and shape the mound to make it to your preferred kind. I like a gradual jump with a lip at like a 30-40 degree angle, but that's for rails.

3. Get water. Pour enough to get it wet without melting away the base of your jump. This will make it nice and firm and it won't just give out.
