How to paint skis

tHATS DOPE Man...any ideas on how to redesign the bottoms of skis though? I have been looking for a some sites with good instructions but no fucking dice.

i wouldn't even consider doin that. cause the graphics are UNDER the p-tex. so you'd have to strip all that off somehow, re do it, and re-p-tex it. sounds like way too much work if you ask me.

yeah i don't think i would ever try to re-do the ptex. might as well just buy different skis if you hate the bases that much.

The easiest way to put a custom design on your skis is to cover the whole topsheet with masking tape, then draw the design on with pencil and cut out the parts you want painted with a razor. Rinse and repeat for different colors of the scheme. This may take a little longer, but with the quality of the lines, it is worth it.

^^ thats a good idea. another thing, if you're going for a more graphic design....is to have the pieces cut out in vinvyl (like I do for all my car decals). Then just clear coat over the vinyl....a LOT of clear coat.

this is cool

how much did it cost you?

I'm thinking of doing this to some old ski...

Very impressive, this worked out way better than I expected to see. Keep us posted over the season and tell us how the paint and clear coat hold up...

um im not sure how much it cost me. lets see. for the primer, adhession promoter, paint and clear coat, probably $20 and i had the sandpaper already.
