How to narrow a crew neck?

hey, i couldnt find anything about this anywhere. is there a way i could make a crew neck less wide? like just at the band at the bottom. would it be a good idea to cut the band somewhere, and then sew it closer together? (i dont know if that made sense.) has anyone attempted this?
i need ideas.
 
ehh i dono im not very good with that kind of shit. but it seems to me that your best best would be to try to shrink it in general, then stretch it longer? idk i dont even know why im typing this
 
yeaa but i dont really want to shrink it. its a 5xl LRG crew so im debating whether or not im even going to mess around with it.
 
Ive made on wider so I guess same principle but in reverse.

What I did was cut it from the top of the collar all the way down to the bottom take out the chunk and sew it back together. It wont look as good but if you do it well it will be fine.
 
i don't quite understand what your looking to do here. the bottom as in at the waist? or the neck hole itself? either way it's not really worth it to fuck around with trying to make it fit differently. it's a cotton t-shirt im assuming them shits are cheap. just go find one that fits the way you like.
