How to make a vest?

I just found this old fire fly jacket and id like to make it into a vest. any advice?

i have never done it but i think u would just wanna cut the sleves off, then just fold the edges on the vest inside then sew it so it stays there and doesnt fray.

just look at a t-shirt arm to see what i mean

that's my 16 year old brother. i'm 3 inches taller. and we sewed rib knit around the bottom so it doesn't hang as much
