you guys don't understand, this is the kinda guy that is also afraid of driving at night because "its dark and its less safe than driving during the day" (and he's 21 for fuck sakes) BECAUSE OF that shit we are all paying 200$ more for plane tickets where we arrive and drive during the day.

you dont just force things upon people because they're asleep. let your friend do what he wants to do with his body. its not up to you whether he smokes or not. if you actually do this to him, expect to lose a friend. hell, it doesn't even sound like you like the guy, so just leave him alone all together.

ok due to the overwhelming negative responses in this thread i have decided to not drug my friend and in fact i am going to quit smoking ganja myself because it is bad for you.

 
If you're driving long distances at night it can actually be scary, deer pop up and shit. But why don't you just drive?

The more interesting point in this discussion is that you're desire to force him to smoke reveals your insecurity and your desire for your friends approval of your smoking because you don't have enough independence and self-confidence to think for yourself and not care what others think of you.
