How To Get Over Last Day Depression

Today was my last day At my local hill (even tho they still had hella snow) now im sad and gotta wait till December to get back. How do u cope this lol

Reject the rejection.

Get your boots on. Go hike and build features. Ski down. Enjoy the fun. Depending on where you live there is still quite a while left for hiking. I generally hike well into the beginning of May.

Yea srsly, get a group of friends a small barbacue and a sunny day and make a fun rail line or something its lit.

Backyard setup. I have one that is a carpet laid on a hill, some wood pushed together for a jump, and 10ft of pvc. Only speed is ski wax and soap and I barely make it but its still freeing and I really enjoy it. Just putting my boots on makes me happy.

Last day yesterday. I thought watching Hot Dog... The Movie would be a good idea. It’s not, made things worse??. ⛷ Good luck!

We had a two rail line coming off a snowbank 12/13 at oak. Shit was sweet. No snow anywhere but yolo.

Hike shit. Drive to mtns with snow. Or head to hood, beartooth, or southern hem.

Also spring rail jams. A couple seasons especially 2009 we were driving to mount snow a bunch post season. That season I fucked up my brain in an non skiing related event and wasn't doing so hot, didn't know what the future held, and wanted to get on snow as much as possible. Ended up driving 3.5 hours to mount snow probably 6+ times post season. Would set up rails in pipe or inferno then skate the mini and obviously wind down with taquitos at 711.

Or build a drop in and get yourself some rink snow. Or rink snow and urban(prime times like 12-3:30 am. If you have a pick up it's easy. If you salt the shit out of it you can ride at night on even the hottest summer days.

Ask if you can hike their hill, and if you dont have a yard like me, find a local sledding hill or somethin and build a jump or possibly bring over some pvc. I usually do that when I'm too much of a pussy to send it in the park so I build my own jumps and practice on those.

If you can find snow, ski. ski until it sucks, honestly it sounds weird but its better if you last day is kinda shitty. at least it delays the withdrawals like a month or something

Recognize you're experiencing attachment.

Release. Read Eckart Tolle 'the power of now'

Go full Zen. Set goals for next winter, go to work on them now.

You said there is plenty of snow. If you know how to walk then you just need to put one foot in front of the other.

Also create your strategy for what to do when the snow melts. Is there enough snow to last all year? If so you can just keep walking otherwise go someplace that has some lifts. Save your monies. Turns all year

Usually you are screwed until you get that first really warm night and you and your buddies can go longboarding for 4 hours then get slurpees at 7-11. That usually resets your mind into Summer mode until you get the first cold night in Fall and go crazy again.

Look on Google earth and find someone with a backyard setup, pull up and see if they'll let you rip with them.

Mountain biking is fun, has a better learning curve than skateboarding, and is very similar to skiing. Keeps those muscles ready for december

Smoke pot. That will make it go by so fast...wait no it would be an eternity...dont do that. Watch 8 hours of Netflix per day instead

Some resorts give you a deal on summer passes as well if you have a winter pass. Its kinda cool to see your ski hill in a different way on a mountain bike riding the lifts up. Whistler especially has an insane bike park.

I usually go through phases where i'm super hyped on skiing during the winter up until I have the first good skate spring skate sesh in mid march and my brain does a full on 180 and I become a skate rat until it gets cold again.

100% agree

I cope by throwing myself at a new action sport. In the past I've done rollerblading, skateboarding, mountain biking, dirt jumping, this summer I think I'm going to try BMX. Nothing is ever as good as skiing, but it's kind of fun to be terrible at new sport. Those early months of newb gains are really satisfying, when you suck at something it's pretty easy to learn something new almost every day. And learning something new is a high that never gets old.

Go hike what snow remains! This is the best time to go build some cool features and enjoy the spring!(wear sunscreen!) When the snow is all gone, go hike the mountains, ride a motorcycle, chase women, have fun with friends. Skiing will be back before you know it, OR.......... Chase the snow. travel all over to find it until it comes back to your home mountain.

True classic my man. Love that movie. Skiing and uncensored nude scenes, what more could we want?

Aspen Extreme is another classic. My Dad was a ski bum in Aspen during that time and said the movie is actually pretty realistic with the cocaine etc. He actually knew of a guy that got killed by a pipe bomb in his car because he couldn't pay up on the coke he fronted.

That’s unbelievably funny but also tragic

That was a bad ass show when it came out! Powder 8’s were big competitions where I was growing up at the times. Damn flashback! Wow! I will have to hunt that movie down.

just rented it the other day for like 2 bucks. Wasnt streaming free on anything we had. Also watched out cold and a few other bad ski movies

I create a protective casing out of mucus and dung so I can sleep through the summer. My slumber is ended in late November by a mysterious calling to ski.

Get obsessed with another sport. Whatever it may be. Or... get over it lol!

Running is a rad offseason sport because after you’re done with a solid run you’ll be too tired to do anything else + health benefits.

It has been two full weeks since I last felt the soft inside of my full tilts with the nice flow of air besides me while on the lift getting up to the mountain. I wake in the night with cold sweat on my forehead hands shaking as I open my curtains and see no snow on the ground and realise my nightmares have come true. As I hear my alarm in the morning I debate myself is it even worth getting up anymore but the slight hope of the next season still manages to get me up in the morning. As I am on my way to town I watch out of the car window on to the depressing sight of streets where snow hasnt been seen in weeks and as I pass a spot ones skied in the winter I dive into a deep depression. Summer is about survival but as on wise man once said winter is coming and hopefully the winter strikes as soon as possible.
