How to get music from ipod to computer

i had to wipe my hard drive recently and i lost all my music

its on my ipod tho and i need to know how to get it from my ipod to my computer and to itunes without losing it. when i try to hook up my ipod it tries to sync it which would delete all my music...

help
 
make sure that your computer has the show hidden folders turned on (not sure to turn it on tho) and connect your ipod. open it by my computer, open ipod, and the music is on one of the hidden folders
 
what type of ipod do you have? if you have a touch then you cant look at hidden files and find the music. you may need to pay for a program if thats the case because i had this issue a month ago and i couldnt find any free programs. but if you have an older ipod you are in luck because you can put it in disk mode or whatever its called and just drag all the music onto your computer.
 
ya man searchbar it and there are threads that show how to do this, but ive tried it a couple of times and each time after i turn my computer off when i go to play the songs it says cant locate orriginal file or something. but obv it works for some people so good luck
 
yeah isnt there a program called idump? it lets you put all of your songs back onto your computer. my friends brother does it all the time, he takes peoples ipod and puts the songs he likes onto his itunes
