How to get in the ski industry?

They always say you should do what you love doing. That’s exactly what I’m looking to do; I love skiing, why should I get away from it by getting a job that I’m not passionate about and that I would hate… I want to somehow get into a career in the ski industry, just to be a part of a company and stay in the skiing scene.

Looking for any advice on how to approach a company. Also wondering who on here is doing what I’m looking to do and if it’s as good as it sound?
 
gotta remember you need to bring something to the table. there's lots of people out there that want to take. produce, rather than consume. i know this is vague but ask yourself what can you do FOR the ski industry that is in demand

for me, went to school, got a STEM degree (computer systems management), and now have had a job in the ski industry for 5 years. i ski lots, drink beer, party, you know...fun stuff

it is as good as it sounds but it takes work just like any other relationship.
 
There's two ways into the ski industry.

1) Know someone in the industry and have them help you get in somewhere.

2) Work your ass off starting from the bottom and working up from there (work at a ski shop or mountain), then meet people higher up in the industry...then see option number 1.

you need to look at what you want next to skiing. for example, if you love graphic designing magazines, make sure you go to college (or be really good) and after that you can go to work as a designer and if you are lucky you could try to get a job at freeskier or whatever..

its not that you want to do something in the skiing world, its what do you want to be and then try to do that in the skiing world.

It all depends on what you want to do. There are many different jobs involved in the ski industry. What do you want for a job, what do you want out of life, what are your skills, what are your passions.

Being in the ski industry doesn't automatically = a wonderful job you'll love. You need find something that's a good fit for you.

Any hobbies or interests that you could see yourself doing for work? Any job that catches your eye?

Some things you can go to school for, some jobs you just need to get your foot in the door and work your way up. Experience is everything. Don't be afraid to take an internship or a job you don't like that much to get your foot in the door. Also the ski industry especially the off mountain side isn't THAT big. IF you get a job, kill it at that job, work hard. If you burn bridges at the start it's going to be tough to get very far.
 
You have to start small and work your way up.

Get a job at a shop

Learn learn learn

Get good at your jobs

Get chummy with reps and people within the industry.

A good resume and roldasex will go a long way
