How to determine what is (free) advertising and what is ok!

Well almost everybody on this website either has their own company, work for a company, or just like certain companies, and will often post something about that company that could be considered advertising. Because the mods and such are really cracking down on this whole free advertising thing, they're deleting posts that may not be intended to advertise anything and may contain info worthy of people seeing.

Without any real guidelines as to what is considered advertising we can't determine what you will delete and what you will let go, which is kinda frustrating for everybody.

This post is here to get the mods to 'lay down the law' and tell us exactly what they consider advertising.

I personally haven't had any problems with this happening to any of my posts, and i am not saying that people should advertise on this website without giving something back, it is just that it's a little wierd when a thread that seemed important and informative is there one day but gone the next...

YA ive seen a bunch of threads that were there an hour ago and they juse diasppear and they have nothing to do with any advertising. also i know that the mods don't like HTML's

first off there really has not been much of a recent cracking down, its been like this for quite a while. Use common sense when it comes to this stuff, or ask first.

i think free advertising is just making a thread like, go to this site cause they are cool. but if someone made a thread about something new going on in hte company or some kind of event, thats perfectly ok.

basicly the only way to get around it is with a thread that starts with what appears to be a question, have someon yo uknow start it and then reply with the goods.

I think Anthony Boronowski in general is just a phase.

my friend made a thread sayin something like 'stecil contest for free skateboard'

this was kinda like the free chronics thread, where someone would design a stencil, and the winner would get it on a skateboard, for free. it was taken down and the free chronics contest i believe was up or still is. is this advertising and against the rules?
