How to break lease-- LL is aware of the chain smoking

So my chain smoking black n mild indoors neighbors are pissed that I am a Yuppie with a brand new car I think they are trying to blame their cig odor on my occasional vaporizer pack

The past weeks i haven't smoked due to my new career in futures trading

Dear Tenant,

In the recent weeks, we have noticed that there is a strong odor coming from a unit in this building

This odor is offensive and will not be tolerated in this complex.


How do i break my lease because my neighbors all chain smoke and this wont stop shit.

I couldn't even imagine this place during the crack epidemic of the 80's.

Seems to me your only option is to kill your neighbors and plant evidence that they are the ones creating the odor. I mean its worth a shot, if nothing else itll give you a chance to live a little
 
well seems like you are perfectly set up for a lease break...

tell the landlord to fuck off, actually chain smoke, and you'll get evicted. there you go lease broken
 
okay.. So either let your neighbors know that they are wrong about what they think is you smoking, also let your landlord know that they were supplied with false information, invite them in. Show them how you are not the one smoking b&m's and request that you be moved to a different location due to the neighbors harassing you. You could possibly get a restraining order on them if they actually do harass you often. If they are super scummers catch them in the act of illegal activity, they could then be forced to move out, if none of these work count your losses, leave the security deposit behind and find a better neighborhood to live in.
 
day 1 --today the building does not smell like stale smoke

I'll give this a week, the guy below me was in the PEN until 2006 for armed robbery, and thus will probs never be employed. the lady across from me her husband robbed the dollar tree in the fall.

I guarantee its this white bitch that moved in a month ago that told. shes the only new tenant since I moved in two years ago. We used to not have a front door because people fucking axe or kick them in when they get locked out. EVEN with the steel plated one the new management LLC installed they jerry rig it so the locking cylinder doesn't function

Before I grew up this past year, I used to have the rugby team in here stomping drinking and smoking

Anymore issues this bitch doesn't know what she is in for # ALUMNI WEEKEND

 
The dude did his time. It ended in 2006. He already can't find a job. You shouldn't hold it against him like everybody else.
 
the statistic of 1 in 3 black males being in the pen in their lifetime holds true in this project,

if several of my neighbors redeem cans full time and only have one set of clothes.

why the fuck would they change their indoor smoking habits. like the older grandma next door smokes B&M indoors and everyone doesn't think twice about bringing their cigarette inside.

This new female tenant just definitely got fooled into thinking this was an okay area. like it sounds like Armageddon when you walk on the floors here. I didn't know that until I moved in

 
You're a privileged white dude living in a apartment building. These people don't need you acting all pretentious and shit. For them it is not some temporary living quarters until they land a real paying job. Stop acting like a little bitch breaking down everything like an old lady at a town hall meeting...

Basically, but I'm extremely polite

I'm the only person that doesn't slam doors play basketball in my apartment

I don't blare music host parties or fry fish

Everyone else literally slams the building doors host ghetto bangers and smoke inside

I walk softly so I don't wake my neighbors up when I leave for work

I don't bitch about their sleep apnea causing ridiculous snoring ........

They should be grateful that I've given them 3 summers and Decembers of no residency

 
That's where they live man. You'll move out soon and forget all about them. Just let them live.. why do you feel so entilted?

DAY 2: someone was smoking poop weed when I came home on my lunch break

I GOT ANOTHER NOTICE TO STOP SMOKING MARY or get evicted

DAY 3: today it smelled like blunt / shit weed when I got home

LL banged on my door, I invited her inside to prove 1, I don't chain smoke or burn inside

IF LL can't get people to stop smoking in a strict no smoking complex, then can i break my lease provided it is harming my health being a non smoker exposed to second hand.
 
Because it is literally next to my campus

If the LL is calling for eviction of people who continue to smoke and they are calling her bluff is she not breaking her agreement to provide a smoke free apartment.

Another tenant brought this to the attention of the landlord. its not like i went out of my way.

i could give a fuck less about them smoking or me smelling their smoke.

they smelled my marijuana and pot parties for 2+ years, it's win win
 
I hear ya.. it's a plus breaking your lease for sure. But, it makes you sound like a whiny bitch... As you put it "yuppie with a brand new car" a little 130 lb kid complaining he doesn't like cigarette smoke to get out of a contract he signed.
 
So two days ago after receiving the 3rd cease and desist order on my door

I went to the office and called them on their bluff. the girl next door is the one that is really upset about the whole situation... and calls them daily and the leasing office has done nothing..

Can I just break my lease that the leasing company seems to think its ok to let people chain smoke cigs dope and crack...... this is NYS where smoking in public spaces has been banned since 1990's

 
I don't know how rental agreements work in NY, but here we can break a lease mid contract with 2 months notice...
 
that was funny.

but my lease agreement has me giving a 60 day notice, basically losing my security deposit (700) and paying for the rest of the years rent.
