How to be consistent

I keep having the same issue, I'll hike for about a day or two, land the trick. But then I can't do it again for like 10 tries. Happened with K-feds and is happening with issusives rn. I've landed like 10 in the past 3 days, but that's out of at least 100 tries. How can I be more consistent

I have found that no matter how many tries I do a trick I might either fail or do it badly. Then next season somehow I start to do them fine almost every time. You just gotta keep trying and be patient, sometimes it may not come till next year but at least keep trying

Do you mean just do something else

Yes, try a different trick. Or do a trick you know and try to add more flavor to it (add a grab, try a tail/nose press, try a sniper tap on or off).

Don’t underestimate the power of visualizing while off the hill. Mental reps are real. You can gain the comfortability on tricks just by going through them in your head over and over.

If you like “self help” podcasts this one has a lot of science based skills to help with visualizing ski tricks or any sport

This actually work. When I landed my first cork 7, I visualised it every night, all summer long to not lose it.

It’s common that a new trick is hard to replicate at first, it comes with practice.

sometimes when I get stuck in a loop I’ll try an easier trick and then go back to the other trick.

also important to focus on each part of a trick. Common mistake I see while coaching is that someone will be trying a front 2 for example and they won’t lock in on the rail cuz they’re so focused on the front 2 and not sliding the rail properly.

sometimes I find that hiking 2 features instead of one and trying a trick in a line can be easier mentally

a consistency trick i used...

If you are having a day during which mentally committing to hard/new tricks is not working and you are just eating shit, instead try to clean all the features in the park sliding them unatty with no trick, and lip on unatty. You will find if you master the unatty slide all your other tricks will come around more easily
