lots of helpful advice so far, thanks everyone!
I currently live in ontario, and ski at a very small ski hill. I've done a bit of filming every season but its been pretty tough out here since I am literally the only skier with enough interest to work on film projects. I'm not trying to come across as cocky or anything, but if i'm behind the camera theres not very many other skiers to film. this past season i did quite a bit of filming with a non skiing photographer/skier and found it very helpful to work with another creative mind. we ended up with quite a bit of footage but very little in terms of decent skiing due to the challenges of our location. The process was still a lot of fun even though the final product wasn't so great.
Next season i'll be moving to kamloops and skiing either revelstoke or whistler, im super stoked to get to a place with a better scene and hope to do alot of catch up in terms of skiing and filming as ive only spent 4 weeks combined at decent locations over the past few seasons. It would be really helpful if anyone could give some more specific advice on networking once i get out west. I'm really eager to learn and surround myself with skiers and filmers willing to let me tag along and absorb everything they have to offer. If anyone could put me in touch with some contacts out there thatd be great, or just some general advice on settling into a new ski scene.
If anyone is willing to let me ski with your crew pm me! I'll carry your gear, build jumps, whatever you need in exchange for getting my foot in the door of the revy, whistler scene!
thanks guys!
