How tight are the shoes supposed to fit in the binding?

Hi

I have to adjust two pair of bindings for my shoes to fit. I'm sure I'll take them to a ski-shop to check it's all right, but I really want to know how tight shoes are going to fit in the bindings, cause I want to learn doing it myself. I've never really quiet understood how you know how tight they're going to be. Is there a simple guide or something to help me learn this? Or can anybody explain?

I use Marker Jesters btw...

Jesus this is hard to read, but if you're asking how to adjust bindings to a larger / smaller boot BSL I really don't think you should be touching your bindings. Take them to a shop and get them to do it. You are risking messing up your forward pressure which could seriously hurt you if you tried skiing on them.

Bottom line, pay the shop tech to do his job.

Hahaha, sorry. I understand it was hard...

I'll try again. I've got new skis, and have to adjust the bindings so they fit my shoes. (The back-binding have to be adjusted further back on the ski). But how do I know just HOW far back? The shoes can sit super-tight in the bindings or they can be pretty loose (more distance between the front- and backbinding). What's perfect?

Haha, sorry for noobquestion. I've just never done this myself before.

Bamski: Yes, that's what I ask about. But I want to learn it myself! And as I said, I will quality-check it in a shop.

Rowen: Yes, shoes = ski boots

honestly guys. just because he speaks a different language doesnt mean hes completely capable of doing this type of adjustment.

you could probably modify some shoes to fit your bindings but youre better off just spending the extra money to get actual ski boots to save your ankles

Haha, I feel pretty owned...

Sorry, I meant ski boots and not shoes. I've got the Dalbello IL Moros, so I don't need to buy any new ski boots!

first, hopefully english is not your first language, and you just got the words messed up.

theres more going on with the fore/aft adjustment than just being in the right spot. dont do it yourself if you dont know what your doin. if you really are interested in learning how its done, go to your shop (when its not busy as hell) and tell them you wanna see how its done. they should let you come back and watch/ explain what theyre doing. the other option is to get a job in a ski shop.

No, english is not my first language. And in my language we don't differ between shoes and boots, but I now understand I'll always say ski BOOTS to you!

Ok, I'll just take them to a ski-shop and eventually watch them do it then...

Hey man,

you are getting lit up!

Take them to a shop so they can SHOW you. Its really hard to explain how forward pressure works on your bindings. ALSO, dont EVER EVER EVER mount bindings onto a ski unless you have a jig. Ski shops have these special do-dads that clamp onto the ski and tell you exactly where to drill the holes for the binding. that being said, the boot is supposed to fit very tight. the heel piece will have to move backwards a little bit (in most cases) when you have correct forward pressure... but please man, go to a shop so they can show you. theres an indicator on the binding you have to look at to know if the pressures right. i dont wanna hear about how i told you your bindings need to fit snug and now you have no knees.
