How the hell do you pick up girls at the bar?

I'll bite. Ask to buy them a drink- guaranteed talking time. Drop your pitch and just try to keep it light and easy. If they aren't talking much, move on after a while- you got better girls to look out for. If you've got a good conversation going, you're either 1. some nice random person or 2. a person they are attracted to, judge this yourself. From this point either bail, or keep talking. From there its really up to you, if its a club, ask them to dance, if its a regular bar, connect with them, drop some digits and move away after a certain time. In the bar situation, come back before you leave and either ask them if they want another drink, or take them to another bar. Don't be too pushy, and after a drink and talking to them for a bit, let them come back to you.

you don't even know what you're talking about. i highly doubt you've ever picked up a girl because that advice you gave was so generic and is only incredible if you want to be just a friend to a girl.

well lets here what you got.
personally the buying a drink, and chatting it up works real well...it's simple and easy to judge if she is into you or not.
 
Don't buy anyone drinks, that's pathetic.

I don't have any good 'tips', things just seem to happen on their won, but:

Look around

Spot a girl you like

Try to make eye contact and look for reactions

She should come to you

If not, go to her

Disclaimer: I think the venue matters, if it's a guido-esque discotheque vs. a simple bar, the difference is big. If you don't mind smoking girls (or smoke yourself) then outside is always a good place to spark up convos and easy to ask her to split with you.
 
Honestly, most girls that go to the bar are not looking to be picked up.

But what I've found and is kinda weird, is that whenever I end up by myself, like friends go to bathroom or buying drinks or something, girls will always come up to me.

Taking them home, your best bet will be to be on the same level as a girl drink-wise at 2 and maybe she'll forget that she wasn't going to go home with anybody
 
not an expert at picking girls up at all but i do know buying girls drinks dosnt make them like you more. seems the best way to pick up girls is on the dance floor, just start dancing nearby and gradually move closer. either that or wait till outside and just strike up a conversation

 
there are many different ways to approach women at a bar. I always seem to go with the dark and brooding approach. Simply sit in some dark corner of a bar and order the darkest brew they've got. stare deeply into your beer and appear to be thinking deeply about something. Occasionally glance up to make eye contact with the women that will be checking you out, wondering who you are or what your story is. Eventually they will come over and talk to you. play up the dark and mysterious thing and they will want to solve your mystery. (the answer to the mystery is your penis in her vagina)
