How should I decide?

So used the search button to try and figure out which binding I should get for Kartel 106 and need to choose between attack 13 or pivot 12/14

I know that attacks weigh less, cost less, low stand height, great for wider skis, and very easy to put on in pow. The pivots are great at preventing injury, shortest mounting distance for great feel, but pain in the ass to put on in pow and to repair the brakes but everyone stands by them.

These skis will be my all mountain and "pow" skis as I won't be riding super deep pow that often. So they won't be seeing the park.

So my question is that i can get the pivot 14 for a little (40$) more than the attacks. Which one would you pick? And what's the difference between pivot 12 and 14 other than the DIN value? Because pivot 12 is much cheaper.

Thanks in advance!

I would go with the pivot - not a fan of attacks. That said, pivots do not have any unique qualities in terms of preventing injury, unless you're talking injuries due to pre-releases (pivots have longer elastic travel, so you're less likely to fall and hurt yourself because of a ski coming off early). In terms of 12 vs 14, they're the same construction wise, only the din range changes.

im a big fan of both bindings and theyre always what i suggest to people. the deciding factors in my mind are weight and cost; if you don't particularly care about the weight difference or the cost difference (or as in this case, there's not much cost difference), i say go with the pivots

either way youre good man! decide and be done with it

Elasticity go pivots, price and weight go attacks. Really a tough choice but if you have the cash I say go pivots. I love either binding though

Ic, I think I wouldn't need the 14s then since I ride at about 8 or 9. Thanks for input!

what ever is cheapest

I'll see what I can find locally when back in town. Thanks guys!

And how hard are the pivots to put on compared to markers...cuz I have a hard time putting on griffons in knee deep pow. And doe pivots feel similar to spx?

that's the only complaint really, that theyre kinda a pain to click into in pow, maybe a little more annoying than markers. personally ive never been bothered by it

I think they're easier than markers since they take less step in force.

Personally I think there's no reason to get markers. Sths have better durability and toe elasticity, attacks are lighter, cheaper, and have lower stack height and Pivots have more elasticity and durability as well.

Big factor if you plan to ski park is brake price and ease of changing. Pivots have the most expensive brkes by far so take that into account. I would go pivot 12, attack 13, griffon or sth 13. Get the cheapest and your good to go.

Thats definitely one of the factor although i prob wont be hitting the park with this one, so like you and others said, gonna find the cheapest and done with!

thanks for all the input guys! hopefully someone else will find this thread useful later on :)
