How much you ski vs. how much you film skiing

Just kind of a thought that popped up in my mind... I wanna know how often other m&a-er's ski in relation to how often they film skiing.

Personally I think this year so far I've been at a 1:1 ratio. I'm gonna start getting more ski days in though.

Post up your exact numbers or guestimations.

1:1 as well. Had intentions of filming all 6 days on the season, forgot batteries one day and it was foggy the other two, but my camera was on the hill errday.

it depends, if its sunny, and everyone is throwing down ill be filming, but if the weather is not as good or its a mellower day ill be skiign

id say probably film like 1 day for every 3 days skiing

I usually plan ahead when I'm bringing my camera. A lot of the stuff I take photo's at is more events then just random days, I also shoot a lot of urban. Unless I have something planned, for a normal day at the hill I usually just bring a film camera (either P&S or SLR), I have no problem leaving it in my bag at the lodge, no one's gonna touch em. I'm so paranoid about my DSLR/Lenses, my pack stays on my back 100% of the time.

So yah, if its a random normal day - film cam , events/urban 100% shooting.

I don't shoot skiing! Have never really enjoyed it and I have never been artistically inclined to shoot action sports, just doesn't inspire me. Besides, I enjoy skiign pow way to much to bother shooting it!

i've filmed/photo'ed most of my days so far, mostly because there still isnt a lot open, there hasnt been any pow yet, and i have no buddies that ski anything but park

Last year i filmed for 2 days/made 1 edit and skied about 40 days. Going to try to film a lot more this year

I was going to plan like 2:1 ski days, but second day bad concussion so now it is prolly going to be more like 3:1 skiing or more filming. Because I am not going to get another concussion.

well i always bring a gopro just to get random stuff so i at least film 1 run of the day just with a gopro, but if we are wanting to make a serious edit we'll plan for it and film just about all day. so just depends on the week i guess

ski season hasnt started yet

but

probably ski till noon film from 12 - 3 then maybe go back for a night sesh

or

set up a tripod and leave it on continuous

1 day filming 9 skiing. Pretty good ratio for skiing. Gona try and film some this weekend when the weathers nice.

Last season i was filming 80% of the time and the odd time I would get to ski and do my own thing. I was skiing with a torn acl last season so i didnt have more to do other than film when skiing. This season, because im still recovering from surgery its 100% filming but starting feb when i can shred again it will probly be doing a lot more skiing because of how much i miss hitting jumps and urban.

I'm the same way. I hate bringing my camera with me when I go skiing. But for the rest of you that do, damn. It's a big commitment.

its mainly weather dependent for me, but I tend to do a lot more shooting towards the end of the season (end feb, march, and april) because it gives myself and others time to get new tricks down and perfect old ones and the weather tends to be sunnier and warmer towards the spring making it so much easier to film

id say I ski a lot more than film right now but thatll start changing as I get older

im at about 7 days filming and probably 7 days skiing. Not that i only filmed on those 7 days, i skied some also

id actually rather film then snowboard. and yes i snowboard, but i will be skiing some this year haha. i just don't have the heart to really advance my skiing, i would rather be artsy and shit

Filming Saturday and Sunday this weekend. Make it 5 film days and 3 ski days...

If it weren't for Hood getting so many bluebird days (beyond rare) so far, I would have way more ski days in.

I shoot photos probably 1 in 3 days I'm on snow. It just depends, sometimes I will shoot 5 days in a row, sometimes I won't shoot for a week.

I'm a photographer, and I almost never shoot skiing... I'm usually far too busy actually skiing (plus there's not a tremendous amount of interesting stuff to shoot at the resort when it isn't a powder day (not bringing my camera because I won't waste the time to stop and shoot) and when you don't know a bunch of people who kill it in the park).

I'll be happy to shoot Backcountry days where everything's relaxed and I'm skiing anyway, though...

I usually try to ski 5 days for every 1 day I film, but it definitely varies. Over vacations I usually film a bit more, but I hate missing out on all the fun. I'm also the only one in my group of skiers that I would trust with my camera so I'm really the only one who films.
