How much wood is used for skis?

Wow, ns is so unhelpful, you ask a question and get nothing but sarcasm. The answer, is that it depends on the kind of ski and the size, but always more than 25 but less than 40.

i agree in some cases, but really, i think sometimes if someone doesn't know the answer to your question, at least they can bump the thread with something funny

each ski needs the wood from at least 40 different species of trees to give it a truly dynamic flex pattern and strength to weight ratio. that coupled that the wood cannot be shared from one pair of skis to another accounts for the FACT that at least 40 trees are needed for any one pair of skis.
i work in the ski industry, trust me.

I scoff at your lack of knowledge. It takes a TRUE industry insider to know the tree species recipe. None of that ON3P 30 tree bullshit.

ok,
this is how you calculate how many planks you can get out of a single tree:http://forestryjudging.nres.uiuc.edu/Tree_Measure/index.html
you need 1 of these to make a ski

cut it in half, paint the top and glue base and edges to the bottom and you have a pair of skis....
so you just look up whatever tree size is average, then find out how many 2 by 4s come out of said tree....and that's how many pairs you get/tree
the salomon suspects are even made out of mdf, or compressed wood fibres, so you just calculate the wood volume of a single tree and divide it by the volume of a pair of skis and that'll give you how many pairs of suspects you can get out of a single tree :)

I don't have a mohter, but if thats a typo and you meant my moter, then probably about 1 and a half trees per hour

you are all stupid. skis aren't made of wood, they are made of plastic and metal. they USED to be made of wood.. like back in the 1800s.

and the best skis, the ones they use in x-games and dew tour, are even made with an exclusive sandcore :)
