how many rider/ small time ski apparel and ski companies do you think the industry can handle? obviously the rider owned ski company idea hasnt come too far and there is room for more and improvement... but it seems like everyone and their crew and their friends all have websites or video production companies with logo-wear, or just straight up clothing companies. i've kind of thought aobut doing it, but it seems that there really wouldnt be any support for just another company. so i guess im also asking when people are going to branch out from selling all the same products?

Its a classic case of Darwinian Natural Selection -

The strong will survive, the weak will perish, and in the end , the industry will evolve for the good of ski-kind

that statement is rhetorical. if there were no rider directed companies one would say that they are not adequately being represented due to the presence of big name big money corporations. then on the other end if there are alot of them, rider directed companies are viewed as a bandwagon, something for everyone to do.

truth is, some of these companies will fall through, while others will rise up and meet the riders needs. figure this is the year we define our culture, expect alot of companies to come out - they all want a piece. in about 5 years the ones that meet the industry's need and direction will thrive, those who can't will fall through.

i dont know about 'posers' coming in and ruining it, but i mean there are already the established, successful companies like da kine, oakley, on a lesser note siver cartel... and there are the successful snowboard based companies that make it like orage, von zipper etc... but right now in skiing it seems like every crew and their dog is making clothes.. and theres sublux... which i personally think is kinda scheisty... but its put together by people who know the industry and they have JP and folk sporting their gear... but all they have are they same shirts and hoodies, like everyone else... and as i said, i dont think the designs are even that great.

^first of all you're an idiot and have no idea what you're talking about, just cause companies have skiers on there team does not make them a ski company, oakley is a sporting company sponsoring athletes in like 15 different sports and they started out by making no not sunglasses but grips for motorbikes, daking started as a surf accesory and windsurfing company and now has decided to make bags to appeal to more people, also orage is a ski only company not a snowboard company, and who cares how many companies there are, taht means more choice and styles for us you idiot, think about stuff before you say it

i don't think there are too many little companies making the same thing. i mean everybody will probably start out as a little clothing or a little film then get bigger and bigger

ok, and fuck you papa, i know what those companies do... and they are major companies that make ski clothing now, and all the little companies people are starting are going to have to compete with them you ass. and on orage, i slipped up, oops, how about you think before you slam you cock eating bitch.

Dude... look at snowboarding.

How many companies and little poo companies out there are there?

So many.

Skiing isn't even close to being there yet.

We've got another 2 or 3 years to come.

as far as im concerned. let everyone come and make their company, and sell their products. personally i like sublux, i like the riders and the products. but thats another story. the main idea here is that we as riders have choices. a few years back if i wanted to buy ski clothing i would have to have gotten a rossi race shirt or something. not anymore. companies like Siver, LSP, Poniverus, Sublux are here to create skiings culture so that we can define ourselves. having more choice enables you to better represent yourself.

in my opinion. let everyone make thier company, let the riders decide who succeeds and who doesn't.

i think thecompanies are great but all the talk about skiings culture so that we can define ourselves, i mean who cares, it's just clothing, if it's comfortable i wear it, i don't go out to look for ski specific clothing, i wear snowboard brands and skate shoes and old navy and american eagle, 'oh shit i'm being a poser now cause i wear stuff that looks and feels good but it has a different sports brand on it, somone better kick my ass for that' i mean come on, they're just clothes

oh yeah, im not saying its bad that there are rider companies, and plenty of them, it is kind of the beginning of the road for this kind of thing in the ski industry. and yeah, i guess its a dumb question, the quality operations will make it, the crap wont... it just seemed like theres a lot of crap coming... aw fuck, whatever. keep em coming.

Papa - i hear you.

im not going to go out and buy 'ski only gear' or whatever. if i like it and its comfy, then ill get it. brands aren't everything. thats why i get pants and shit at walmart - stuffs cheap feels good. but i think its cool to see companies comign out offering stuff with a cool design and fresh ideas.

Whos the pussy now, pussy

and it doesnt even matter just ski to ski then die thats all there is to it

Whos the pussy now, pussy

All I have to say is support your local companies and small business's. You are right, there are alot of them, and they probably dont do very well, which is even more reason to buy something from them instead.

Girls are not allowed to fart or burp, therefore we must bitch or else we will explode

just look at how many rider owned companies there are for bikers and skaters.. many more can come through & it will all be for the better
