How much influence has NS had on the industry?

Facts, numbers and nonsense aside, how much influence on this sport, the culture and the future of skiing do you think Newschoolers.com has had? I would say a lot... If not being one of the most important driving forces behind what we have today. Props NS.

In the ski industry as a whole, we don't have much leverage. With certain companies we have lots of leverage though, the companies that really matter anyway.

Newschoolers has pretty much created a subindustry within the skiing market for which it is a direct link between the customers and the companies that serve it. That, is incredibly cool and very unique.

and as for the ski industry as a whole, dont doubt it, newschool influences have played a big part in setting graphical and ski design trends across the board, and pretty much dominates the younger market.

NS has more of an effect within the smaller core companies seeing as how the owners of these companies were all on NS before they started making skis.

why would you write (point of view) after POV? why not just exclude POV and just write point of view?

Kind of a time waster there, in my pov.

why did you bother putting in the abbreviation if you were just going to write the whole expression two spaces later?

Name something else that has had some influence on the industry. NS has had more influence than that thing.

Okay MAYBE the NCAF, or poorboyz productions still win. Maybe. It's close.

Not enough! Despite the fact that there isn't too much fragmentation in the skiing community (mostly all the park skiers hang out here) anymore, we still don't have enough of a voice. But we are growing and so is the influence. Still, there are maybe say 50,000 active accounts on NS (Generous) and that's only a fraction of the ski industry.

a good amount of influence, NS is like Fight Club of the ski world

I mean, come on, who thought of/designed the Oakley Osama pros? NS!

TTTTTTTTTTTTTHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIISSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSS

MMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH

or somewhere close to that

The ski industry is based on family's buying full price tickets, lodging and renting equipment. I would say NS has influenced clothing/graphics styles, and pro teams.

a lot with freestyle anything else not suck much I remember jon talking about making goggles and we all gave him shit for it.

Simply, we are the same consumers as any other industry. Video games, basketball, fashion...

The fact that we are on a website that unites us consumers merely helps companies connect to our niche in the market. Unfortunately our "presence" in regards to the industry IMO doesn't matter that much.

Yes, we are self-aware and create influence, but it's no different than any other trends in any other industry really...

BUT

NS is an amazing thing that progresses the sport, connects the skiing world, and changes how we are sold to.

Id say a huge influence, companies are always trying to find trends to base there products off of, and Newschoolers is one of the best, if not the best way to find out what the current trend is in the skiing movement. I mean sure there is the whole other section of skiing but according to buisness reports the demand for twin tip skis is HUGE. So since we pretty much are the face of twin tip skis than I believe that our influence is massive. Kids these days dont want to jump into a racing suit and hike gaits all day, they want to be like tom wallisch and all of the rest of the pros that blow there mind when the watch freeskiing on the internet, NBC, and when they go on skiing vacations with there familys. Our influence will keep growing too, as long as we dont have big jerk corporate companies filing law suits against the small ones.

As far as freeskiing goes, it really is the main source of information and there is no question about that

(and ski.colonies.com)

consider this...
the easier it becomes every year for people to share video over the web, the faster freeskiers are progressing their tricks. period.
25 years ago, you got pushed to improve by the best guy at your hill, or the best guys you were exposed to traveling/competing. now, you can see what anyone in the world is up to, daily... hourly!
so in the sense that NS brings all these like-minded skiers together to share that video and commentary... HUGE influence.
