How much for goggles???

So im talkin to this kid at lunch yesterday and he tells me he wouldnt pay more than 30 dollars for goggles. I told him he was crazy and you gotta pay at least 100 to get a good pair. I also said i pay about $100-$175. He continued to try to tell me that i was paying $100 to look like an idiot going down the mountain. So how many Newschoolers agree with me that this kid is crazy?

It's just like when buying a pair of ski's or ski boots. If you spend more money you are going to get better goggles. Sure a $50 dollar pair of goggles would work, but they will probablyfog up on you, the lense won't be as good of quality and they will break easier. You are going to get more bang for your buck if you spend the $100-$200 when purchasing say a nice pair of Oakley's. The lenses will be top notch and the overall durabilty of the goggles will be great. They wont fog and if you take good care of them they will be great goggles for a couple of seasons. I've had a pair of Oakley Crowbars that I've used for 5 seasons now. So the more you spend on goggles the better goggles you're going to get.

you guys have no idea what you're talking about... jesus christ

theres really no such thing as a "good" goggle. the only thing that is better or worse are the lenses. the frame is 100% personal preference in terms of the look and fit. that being said, a nice pair of polarized lenses can run you up to about $90 dollars... then you've got to buy the frames.

ORRR.... you could look around on NS and pick up a pair of last years most popular goggles (crowbars, smith IO, scott fixes, ect...) for around $50. while they won't necessarily have polarized lenses or the right lenses for certain conditions, they'll work just fine and Newschoolers tend to buy based on look, so you can rest assured knowing that whatever pair you buy on here will look steezy.

mobile posted too early... my bad

basically, yes, certain goggles are more expensive than others... but that doesn't at all mean you need to pay even close to 175 dollars for a pair. smith IOS goggles were 175 when they came out, i just bought a pair brand new with tags from a guy on NS for 55.

dont throw down upwards of 70 for a new pair of goggles... just buy a lightly used pair for less than half the original price.

even though i got my splices for 70 hehehe

you dont have to pay any set price for 'good goggles'. I scored a couple pairs of I/Os off tramdock for like $45 with and each came with an extra lens. If you spend $175 on goggles youre doing it wrong

in that case, experiment with goggles until you find one you like

then search online/on NS for a while. i promise you'll find a pair for 1/2 the retail price or even less if you take the time to search. do it over the summer/off season because then you don't have to worry about it come ski season.

no of course you can get very good goggles for a cheap price IF you find the right place, sale, and hit it at the right time.... like an oakley vault store just went in close to my house and i went opening day and scored a pair of $150 oakley jp auclair crowbars for $69.... but the key there is that they are $150 goggles and i just got them on sale
