Im just wondering because like you all know, once you eneter highschool they start averaging your mark( well in ontario atleast) and i was wondering when applying for a universities do they really concentrate on your overall average? Im wondering this because some of my subjects rreeaallyy bring down my grade.

for example on my midterm report card

i got

75%(geography)

77%(french)

80%(english)

36%(religion)

this averaged out to a 67% because of religion, if i got the schoolboard average( 75%) i would have gotten a 76% or if i just dont count my religion mark i would have got 77.3. Both big differences. Its just Religion and the elective that always bring down my mark and unfortunatley being in a catholic school i have to take religion until grade 12( and no i cannot switch schools). I do so bad because i just dont give a shit about religion class( but i do very much care about my religion) i just dont want to do the work and i always get dick head teachers and we just dissagree( mostly because they are very religious and i am not) and i just dont do the work, i know i should suck it up and do it but i cant!! i just cant, i always have them last period and by that time i just want to go home so i dont do anything in class.

long story short, do universities concentarte alot on averages or individual grades.

shit bruh. you freakin huh? listen, college really aint that important. just chill an keep dem grades up and youll be straight.

From my brothers experience, you need to work your ass off in gr 12 if you want into a good school. Im not being an ass but for a good university (i.e. laurier or mcgill or queens) a 67 wouldnt get you too far. depending on the program ur gonna need like atleast a 75, and that also isnt great. they look at some grade 11 %'s but thats just for early acceptance and then gr 12 is the only thing that rly matters.

oh yeah sorry and to answer your question cause i rly didnt, they will focus on your 6 best University/College courses so you may b ok.

Religion should be easy, just answer every question with "thats what jesus would do" or "the bible says so".

But yeah colleges look at

SAT or ACT score

GPA

and other stuff like clubs and sports

and some will probably even look at your familys race and socioeconomic status.

Thats really weird. In the US most people apply at the beginning of their senior year and get accepted before you've even gotten any grades so the grades you're senior year don't really matter at all.

I suggest you make a good argument to your school to drop that religion mark. In Canada as you know, basically the whole deal is on average percentages. Just do your best to raise your marks by the end of the year.

lol, nah man, this aint about the other thread. The other one i was wrried this ijust want to know cuz im curious.

36 in religion? are you kidding me? you get like a 55 for just coming to class in religion. you should work on that, that shit is so easy thats what should be bringing your average up. plus its mid-term you can still raise your mark by a lot if you start hauling ass.

Do you have provincial exams in grade 12 in Ontario? If so, then depending on where you want to go to school, they look at 3 of your provincial exams and your english grade (In BC at least). So if you're going into sciences, they'd only calculate your average from (hypothetically) math, physics, chem or bio, and english. I really doubt your electives can ruin the whole thing for you, I started out with an A in calculus in grade 12 and stopped working the rest of the year ending up with less than 70, and it didn't count. Regardless, do your best as they look at everything.

Well you dont have a teacher who absolutely hates you, well maybe you do but its different for me. I have a bad reputation with teachers in my school. I have a bad habbit of pissing off teachers that i dont like. I regularly get in arguments with teachers and im not trying to be cocky but im a pretty good arguer( i have been told by teachers, other adults, and students) and teachers odnt like when they loose in an argument. Im rude to teachers who are rude to me, if a teacher tells me to shut up i will tell them to shut up, if a teacher grabs me i will tell them to fuck off and never to fucking grab me again. Thats why teachers dont like me, im not proud of it but thats the way i am and thats the way ive always been with teachers. Basically i f their a dick to me im a dick back.

dont get me wrong i just dont walk into my class and decide i dont like this teacher and start being an asshole. With teachers i like( and who like me back) i am a great student in class i will participate and be polite and my grades will reflect that. But in other classes where i dont like the teacher( and they dont liek me back)...........well my grades reflect that aswell. so it doesnt help.

Here is a word of advice, and I dont mean to be a dick:

Stop fighting meaningless shit like this. Go to class, do your work, regardless of weather you agree with it. I am an atheist, as far as I am concerned a class on religion is not only a joke, but one of the biggest offenses to progressive thought on this planet, that said if I took a religion class today, I would sit down, shut up, and pull at least a c in the course.

If you are not able to get into good schools because of your tendency to argue with a teacher, are you really going to look back and think "at least I said what I thought" I am not telling you that you shouldn't voice your opinion, I am just saying, there are more important things in life that arguing to no gain over shit.

And if a teacher tells you to shut up, do it, its their classroom, their class. The show isnt about you, and if they are telling you to be quiet, its because you are disrupting the ability of the rest of the class to learn, and you dont have the right to do that.

^^ i deserved that, its all true to. Its easy to say to my self not to do it now but once i get pissed off...cant really control my self(not in a. Im going to kill somebody way, but i let my anger get the best of me), and trust me i try to sit down and shut up i really do. Its just whenhe starts doing stupid stuff like "ok class get out your notes, your going to write a 300 word paper on how we can be better christians, oh and dont worry it wont be marked" Like WTF why am i doing this hsit if im not being marked on it??? and then the next day " Brian where is your paper?" "uh i didnt finish it", " Well thsi is the 2nd straight assignment not handed in and this is going to effect your mark, oh and you have a detention tomorrow. so i suggest you finish your work next time"( this is what actually happened) WTF, i was told i wasnt being marked on this shit. This guy hates my guts, on the day of the football teams home opener he phoned the principal and told him i couldnt start in the game because i didnt come prepared to class, the team was going to be cald down to the changeing room 10 min after the start of the period, and second of all the reason he said i wasnt prepared was because i didnt bring a pen and pencil, OOOOOOOOOOHHHHHH NOOOOOOO. Its that shit that fucking pisses me off. me off.and why the fuck in religion class are we learning about fucking eating healthy and fucking how the media plays an effect on our economy, last time i checked they didnt mention microsofts fucking stocks in the bible.

In Canada averages are pretty important, depends on what you apply to. I think to get into Business at the UofC you need at least a 88% to be considered right now, don't actually know as I have been in for a long ass time. To get into something like communications and culture its only a 75%.
