How much difference in boot length BSL and bindings is fine

Bought new boots and had the shop adjust my skis to fit the new ones. The wouldnt adjust one pair because it was missing a piece and tbh they are old af. The bindings were originally adjusted for 326 BSL and the new boots are 325 BSL. Is it fine to ride? Theyre my urban skis anyway. Also separate question, what happens if you ride grip walk boots on non grip walk bindings? Is that a big no no?

I’ve switched between 1mm BSL difference without issues, but I’m not sure how big of a deal it actually is. It does change the forward pressure though when I checked on my attacks.

I don’t think a gripwalk boot will fit a binding that isn’t compatible? Friend once tried to clip into some bindings not set up for gripwalk and couldn’t clip in.

gripwalk boot in a non-gripwalk binding will greatly affect the way your afd releases your toe, even if the forward pressure is correct it most likely wont release close to where it should (in the accepted torque range). depending on where ur din is at, lower it a little for sure if you wanna keep riding them

to follow up with previous reply, i dont see much of a difference being present in a single mm of sole length. just learn how to check your forward pressure and dial that shit in

Good advice, thanks all. Won’t ride the non grip walk bindings, gonna try and find a different pair for those skis. Looks like I’ll have to figure out how to adjust forward pressure on griffons

Re: BSL - Just because a boot says "325mm" doesn't mean it's actually 325mm. There is nothing in the Alpine Norm ISO 5355 about the actual sole length of the boot corresponding to the stated measurement. The only thing in the norm is that a pair of boots cannot deviate by more than 1mm from each other. So a sole can say "325mm" but actually measure "329mm" and be legit.

So, just because one boot says "326mm" and another says "325mm", it is not necessarily the case that the boots are only 1mm different. Could be that, could be way more.

Hmm good to know. I was just going off info from evo

Man last year I went from a 330bsl to a 320 bsl, and forgot to adjust the forward pressure on one of my sets of skis with pivot 18's. Skied a whole day on them before I noticed and they never released.

Okay update. Bindings on the nomads are grip walk, they just don’t have AFDs on either of them. How sketchy to ski without them? I did it all last season
