How much control do skiers have over their segments?

For example, do they get to pick what music is playing, which clips to play, what kind of lifestyle clip they have (or to have one at all), etc.?

It's a written rule, skiers have NO creative control over their parts, ever. Those who break these rules are banished from the freeskiing world into eternal hell:

^ what about session 1242 i thought the point of that movie was so the riders could help edit their parts. and the bigger picture was started by tanner and cr

when the man has to take a piss he finds a bush. When a bush has to get some food it takes from the piss soaked soil around the bush, when man needs food he takes the bush and cooks that shit up. So if you think about it - all we do is eat our own piss.-Mike_hunt10

if it were easier it would be called snowboarding

i like the sticker that says " Ya mum rides a Snowboard"

howevor much they want depending on the company, but i know if a rider in one of johnnys movies wants his section a certain way he will allow the rider that freedom, example boronowski in X.

^ yeah i also think that it depends on the company.

candide said in an interview a while ago something that he HAS control about how he appears to the public, e.g. in movies.

now, he has his own company,.....

"for reals is everyone in here kidding?? OK first of all if you dont know what chads gap is thats kinda lame. Secondly They have been hitting chads gap for some time now. Im surprised now one has seen the cllip of candide thovex sticking a D spin over chads gap. Its kinda been around alot and been in a few articles." - TravisMC in a thread where everyone made fun of the creator who asked if chads had been hit with skis. thx alot

And I was being totally like serious and all.

It's all about the way different companies see it. I'm guessing that Tanner Rainville wasn't too happy about his music and part in Yearbook. Someone said it here, hearsay.

it certainly depends on the company, i think. like...i talked to schwags a while ago and he told me he helped edit x=ten and that some of the riders were allowed whatever they wanted in their parts to be there.

MSP on the other hand....need I say more?

i think the the riders should have a lot of control over segments. i love sitting next to someone who can edit good, and telling them what to put where... and what clips i like. i think the more minds you have in front of the monitor, the metter. you can get sooo many ideas from other people.

rider input is fucking key...it should be done with all the riders there.

i agree that rider input is key, but rider control should not happen, unless they're paying for it.

Because to truely appreciate what these guys can do, i think they should be able to select their favorite clips, and give input about which ones they think is the best, but thats where it should end. you could be the best skier in the world, but if you dont know shit about editing, then your input is only usefully in selecting clips, not how the overall segment will look.

in 1242 jp edited his whole part basicly

You know you have the coolest cab driver when he says, 'And we're off like a prom dress.'

i think jon has some input cuz there always seems to be afi in his parts.

I ski at the crappiest hill ever...

i hink it would be fuckin sweet to see a movie where rthe skiers picked thier tricks and song. But the editor would definitely have to do a lot of work to mak it good.

"Do you smell what im steppin in?"

MSP says that as a bonus feature in hitlist there is a movie entirely edited by the skiers. i dont know if its true, but that would be cool if it is

it's the rider that's fuckin putting on the show and making the company the big bucks, they better have some say in what goes down in the segs.

stick that in your pipe and smoke it!

yeah, but they're also getting paid well enough to ski for the camera. There's a lot of "hike and do it again" that gets cut. Basically they're the bitch, their job is to ski for the camera.

but as a skier, i would probably want control of a segment being made of me. Then again, as an editor, i'd also want to see what they could come up with.

If we see a genuine motivation to get truly involved in the segment we will for sure listen to waht the skier wants to do.

But most skiers don't do this. For example in White Shine JP Auclair filmed, edited and chose the music for his segment.

Who fucking cares. Just show me the newest, bigest, cleanest shit on snow. I don't even turn on the fucking volume. I listen to my own beats. Pro skiers shouldn't waste their time editing and trying find songs that people won't like.

"Man" you guys are fucking dorks!! It's about skiing, not how rad you can make yourself look. If your the best everyone will know.

i think in pbp and l1p riders get a good amount of say, but sometimes they might just want to leave everything to berman or jonny, and also if the skiers are creative or artistic like steele spence, they can edit their own segments if they want to

yea i think that skiers should have input on what they think should be involved. they are the ones throwin down so they should have a part in making the movie. i think in 1242 a lot of the skiers had a say in their song and whatnot
