How long is your average ski day?

So how long does the average NSer ski in a given day? All day? A few hours? A few runs?

For me its usually 2-3 hours. I live on the beautiful ice coast where powder is scarce and the park reigns supreme. But usually after a few hours of lapping I just dont feel like skiing anymore. The obvious exception is pow days where I'll be on the mountain from open to close.

So NS, what's your average?

totally random, anywhere between a few runs and 13 hours. my home mountain stays open till 3 am on fridays and saturdays so you can ski for a long time if you want

First to last usually.

3am? Thats awesome!

I'm in the same boat as you OP. On the ice coast it's usually half days (2-4 hours) of hot lapping the park. The rare, epic pow days i'll be there First to last chair.

If I buy a day pass at a mountain I'll be more inclined to stay the whole day. At the mountains that I have a seasons passes to (and ride almost daily) I tend to stay for shorter durations.

Yeah I forgot to mention this. I obviously have a ski pass and live 20 minutes from my mountain so its more justifyable to ski only a few hours. Like you said, if I buy a day pass somewhere else Im usually (unless the weather is horrible) inclined to stay a few hours longer than normal.

I try to go for a 6-7 hour day but it usually ends up being like 2-3 hours. It's hard to get up there earlier when you're relying on other people for rides

Normally Ill ski from 9:00 - 2:30 or 3:00 but lately i've been in spending more time in traffic than skiing. Can't wait till I can start going more on weekdays.

kind of random but usually 10 to 10. I go to nubs nob and ride park all day. (our park has won best in the midwest so there is more than enough to keep me entertained)

Usually 4-6 hrs depending on crowds. Pow days are 9 to 4 obviously. I usually dont get back to my house from snowbird till after dark.

Normally about 4 hours. I normally get off work at 1pm and try to get out by 4pm and usually leave by 8. Weekends may be a bit longer depending on what I am doing. Recently I haven't been going much because it hasn't snowed in forever and it's icy and cold enough that ice skates would probably work better.

Why mother nature will you not even give us an inch? It's been like 3 weeks!

depends on what i do and what the weather's like, but if i'm hitting park i'll be there longer than if i were just fucking around. but i live 20 minutes away so going out for a few hours isn't a waste, but probably around 3-4 hours maybe more when there isn't a lot of people

Pretty much only ski bumps or off piste, after 3 or 4 hours my body says its time to go home. I have a pass and live 10 mins away from the resorts so it's not a big deal when you can just ski every day.

8 to 10 hours since I have to drive 2 hours to the hill and back. It's worth it though. Everyday is a park day on the east coast.

anywhere from 2 hours to 16-17 hours.

I have done a 16 hour work shift on a mountain before while working and its the worst thing ever.

I wake up at five every morning and start doing laps on my skins until the lifts open, ride til close, then i'm in the streets til three hitting handrails. Go to bed and start all over again, if you do any less you're a fucking bitch ass pussy.

My average full day when conditions are good is about 6 hours but can range from 4-7.

If the conditions suck or I haven't had a rest day in a long time and I'm tired, 3 is typical but it can range from 1-5.

If I'm not working then I'm skiing all day no matter what. Skiing is my life and I know that if I don't go as much as possible then I'm gonna regret it when the season ends.

yes, I feel you on that. work days on the hill can be brutal and mellow. 7am to 5:30-6Pm some days. I had a nice almost 14 hour shift last sunday. could barely walk back to my car after clocking out. 12+hrs in ski boots can be tough sometimes.

3 hours when the snow sucks is usually enough.

Powder I ski open to close with 1 break if Im skiing with someone else and 2 if Im alone.

I missed my flight today (not due to skiing.) Rebooked for tomorrow. It meant that I got to ski for 2 hours and change at 1pm tiday abd also means tomorrow morning I can ski until 1115. Still worth the 52 bucks each day it costs me to ski Highlands even though I 'm only getting 8-9 runs in. Hell yeah to days #25 and #26 comin unexpectedly.

I've done a couple 14 hour shifts on the hill and they've been awesome. Both times the perfect mix of injuries and free time for skiing and the day flew by while making a good chunk of change

Like 9am to last chair, sometimes its more like 930-10 though if I'm getting together with the homies. Usually a few safety meetings thrown in there.

if I'm just going to the local hill, usually 3-4 hours, but if im making a day trip to another hill I'll be there for first chair and stay all day

3-4 hours. 11-3 usually. the hill is pretty close and rope laps basically speed up time. It's really hard to stay all day lappin rope unless it's soft and stokin'.

the amount of time ranges from around 4 hours to 12+ hours. All depends on who i go with and rides. Usually i go for like 6 or 7 hours though.

If I'm working all day but on a day off usually like 4 hours. Depends on if I paid to ride somewhere or at the hill I usually ride. Depends who's there. I take it pretty easy these days. Since I broke my brain I get tired after shredding for a while.

Used to be 9am to 10pm everyday on breaks and after school till 10pm on reg midweeks. Fucking lived at the local hill.

As close to first chair as possible till past the last. Most times ill park till im knackered and then drink a redbull or something and carry on. Though when its powder, shins end to hurt more after so ill spend half the day powder skiing tree runs n stuff and the latter half hucking stuff of a mini kicker.

I really want to go ski now.

at the hill, I show up 8-830 and try to finish after 2. depends on conditions and how I feel. I also ski 7 days a week.

for touring days, im on the road at 730 for an hour drive and hike between 3-5 hours before reaching my line. Im usually driving back home in the dark.

3-4 hours generally. When you get closer to 4 hours at the age of 25 your body wants a break.

25 isn't old enough to complain about being broken. You need to step up your conditioning. 25 - 30 is the prime of your life man, as far as fitness goes.

Usually I go out with the intent of making it short, like 3-4 hours. Then I end up skiing for like 4 hours more. I live like ten minutes from two hills so I'm pretty damn lucky I like to think.

usually 2-3 hours while my kids are taking their nap, i ski more days then i don't tho so it's still lots of skiing
