How long do you keep your helmet?

I've had mine for 3 seasons plus I use it for longboarding, biking, etc. Had a few falls to the head skiing but not longboarding or biking. I think it's still safe...?

it might not be... depending on the helmet.... a true helmet not a hardhat is useable for 2 years but after a few bad hits to the helmet you should replace it.... also check for cracks and soft spots. if you have some i recommend a new helmet. if not then i would still recommend one because of the 2 year rule...... what you learn working one summer at a ski shop lol

Damn, that crack^^is gnarly. I have a Giro Encore. The shells ok but the styrofoam has like a 3in. crack in it. I think she'll do for the rest of this season, considering its apparently spring already. New one next season though

I'm pretty sure that helmets designed for a one impact life. It sucks, but it's the reality if you want 100% out of a helmet. One good hit to the helmet, you should get a new one. Obviously that is totally unrealistic, but them's the facts.

My helmet is in the tail end of it's second season and I've definitely taken two or three good hits to the head while wearing it. I was talking the other day about having to replace it. I'll probably wait till the fall though.

yea my dad used to race cars somewhat professionally, and he said that if you were to even drop your helmet on the ground once, youd replace it.

im not really planning on replacing mine but do you think it matters much when the foam becomes disconnected from the shell and becomes able to move around? like i said not to worried about it, but its no longer attached on my poc

ive had mine for two seasons, im probably getting a new one for next year. i think any more than 2 or 3 seasons youre probably pushing its safetywise.

ps you have the best name

There are very few MULTI IMPACT helmets on the market. Most are meant for racing, ie the poc skull comp x with its air bladder padding. I think Boeri makes a soft eard multi impact helmet too.

I forgot to ad, Ive had my helmet for a few seasons and probably should replace it, but thats $100 into new skis. Plus I dont usually wear it unless Im out west or getting my progression on.

i think i have six seasons on mine. i only get out 10-15 days a season, but that bucket takes a ton of abuse. I'm picking a new one up next season.

ive had mine for 4 seasons and its been through some pretty gnarly crashes and still holding strong

Ehh I have had my Bern Hardhat for 3 seasons, and apart from one major crash resulting in a mild concussion and a broken shoulder blade, I haven't had any major crashes. The foam isn't cracked so I don't see a need to replace it yet..
